Mr. Lego-builder Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 I downloaded the newest version of LDD 1.4 from LEGO-Factory.com. And I must admit, it's wonderful...when it works. Only one day has passed and there are hoards of problems with the software. Among them are: 1. Occasionally the save button would crash the program (and my model progress would dissappear). :( 2. I can't upload the model/s that I built. >:( 3. The bricks jump around when I try to place them. *wacko* 4. The program messes up when I try to build using SNOT techniques. And with me using Windows XP makes it that much annoying! There are always diologue boxes that pop up saying: "Lego Digital Designer has encountered a problem and needs to close. If you were in the middle of someting, you progress might be lost. We are sorry for the inconvience." *devil* I have a really nice model that I want to upload, but as of the above said problems, all attemps have failed. |-/ Has anybody had the same problems? Or know how to fix these bugs in the software? Thanks in advance. ;) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 27, 2005 Governor Posted August 27, 2005 First of all for anyone who wants to download the program, the correct address is http://www.lego.com/eng/factory/gallery/. Thought I better clear that up because I tried www.lego-factory.com and that didn't do me any good. I'm in the process of downloading at the moment. As soon as that's done I'll test it on my Windows XP and see how well it works. Quote
Hobbes Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 I experienced that brick-bouncing, too, and I wasn't even trying SNOT technique. But then again, CAD-like programs are a complete mystery to me, so I'm not a good reference anyways... I think I stick to the conservative "real life model building process" and upload a picture or something and have them figure out how it was built. Smart designers as they are they are sure faster reverse-engineering my model than me figuring out LDD... |-/ Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 27, 2005 Governor Posted August 27, 2005 It installed fine... But there's nothing I really want to build with the components available at this present point in time. So future testing will have to wait. Quote
Hobbes Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 I think I just figured it out... bricks do snap now... didn't know/think that you have to turn the grid to put them together correctly. The "guessing enginge" of the program's not the brightest... but I think I'll give it a try... Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted August 27, 2005 Author Posted August 27, 2005 The program installed just fine on my computer, but as of the above bugs, I thinking that the newest version is so far not the best version. And Mr. Phes, you can also just enter "LEGOfactory.com" (without quotes) and it takes you to the same place. ;) Also, you can right click the taskbar menu for LDD (next to the start button) go to Preferences, and uncheck "Use Starter Sets". This will give you more bricks to build with. Quote
