[MOC] Shinkansen E7/W7

The Shinkansen E7 and W7 series is one of the trains I happened to ride on my trip to Japan. It was the most interesting of all (besides the mighty N700, of course), so I decided to make a Lego MOC of it! The model is 7 studs wide, tried to make it as clean as possible to retain those sleek shapes typical of the Japanese Shinkansen trains. The bogies are slightly poorly proportioned, but I guess that's always an issue at this scale. The nose was a bit challenging,  as it's a trade-off between cleanliness and having the correct angle (I'm afraid it's not titled enough), but I think it turned out very nicely. The only stickers used are the curved line around the door area and obviously the logo near the door. The rest of the model is quite straightforward, mainly thanks to the "boxy" design these trains always feature.

You did an amazing job, especially on the nose where the brick built striping slowly widens around the windshield while also changing tilt and elevation. Such controlled shifting in three dimensions is impressive. That nose is definitely full of snot.

Kudos for that nose, as mentioned, that stripe in bricks going over three dimensions is a piece of work you should be proud of!

Amazing work on capturing the striping with minimal stickers. Have you built it IRL yet or is that a joy to come?

Looks great. The nose is hard to capture, but you pulled it off well.

The front end is great and really well done. I like the SNOT Technic and the many different angles.

 

The doors could use some improvement: on the real thing, they’re only set back slightly. On the model, they’re installed much too deep inside. SNOT Technic would help here if you installed the doors just 1/4 plate deeper than the side panel.
