Ngoc Nguyen Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Remember when Technic was about cool functions? Pepperidge Farm remembers. THE TRUCK At this scale there's no point making a drivetrain and a fake engine. Therefore the tiltable hood is also excluded in favor of accurate shaping and structural integrity. There's also a bed in the sleeper cab, just like in the original 42078. The side walls also incline outward, just like in the original 42078. In the back you can also see the fifth wheel mechanism I designed for trucks at this scale. The trailer has a pulley wheel that can slide between the 2 1x5 thin liftarms. The LBG thin liftarm when rotated 90 degree counterclockwise will push the thin 1x4 liftarm behind the pulley wheel, and it will stay locked thanks to a ratchet mechanism in the frame. The black connector on the other side will release the lock. THE TRAILER You don't need a gear rack and a holder to create a sliding supporting leg, since a sliding axle can do the same thing. The standing legs are controlled by the quarter 2x3 liftarms in the back. The cranes are synchronized and are controlled through two knobs, one in the back and one on the other side. The "container" is not exactly a container but more like a skeletal frame. I did start with a fully panelled container, but it turns out to be too heavy for the crane to lift. I had to strip it down to the bare minimum, and what you see is the most optimal design that can balance between look and function. MODEL IN ACTION INSTRUCTION https://reb.li/m/269880 Quote
