TomSkippy Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Hey everyone. I wanted to share my latest BDP entry... The Armada Flagship Cannonball Carrack! A reimagining of the classic Armada Flagship. At under 700 pieces, it’s designed to fit seamlessly into any MOC fort, stay under the $100 mark, and help round out those extra-large BDP entries. I experimented with a modern recolor, but the original palette turned out to be too fun to pass up. Morions not included (I slipped this picture in as the last one on the BDP) Getting the sail to curve AND have room for a sticker took some time. As did redesigning the top rails. Note the voluptuously curved hull! Anchor and Capstan work! Let me know what you think! And don't forget to vote here! Quote
Slegengr Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Such a great and nostalgic design! I had already voted for it before you posted here. I would love to see this as a mid-sized BDP set, so I hope it does well. Though I would prefer cloth sails, no question, I think you did well with the design within the BDP constraints. Your brick-built solutions do look good to me. It would be great to get that coat-of-arms in official stickers, both for the rear shield and for the sail. Your choice of sailors works passably-enough and I think the design is good, but Armada morions seem essential to me for this set, so I'll have to make the swap when I (hopefully) get this set. I wish we could get the chrome breastplates again; such a great classic piece! Thankfully, I already have a few. I was recently crushed when I accidentally crushed one in excellent condition and snapped it right at the corner; somehow it fell off my LEGO table in its own little bag and landed right in my walkway while I was cleaning the surrounding room and I stepped backwards right onto it; what a loss! I'll probably try to glue it so it is still somewhat useable, but it will never be the same. Quote
Franco Clarke Posted Saturday at 12:52 PM Posted Saturday at 12:52 PM Nice stumpy little build, balancing the complex colour scheme of the set well. The shield on the stern is a nice touch. Quote
