Brickiril Posted Friday at 08:17 AM Posted Friday at 08:17 AM Hi all! This is my first (completed) MOC ever as an AFOL, an A-wing in 1:43 scale. I made it in my own color scheme. More pics: Spoiler The build is very simple thanks to these newer lego wedge parts combining into an absolutely perfect a-wing shape: Btw I learned that the ILM studio model is basically just two parts of an f-14 fuselage glued together, can't unsee it now! The result is a very sturdy model, apart from couple of areas: the cannons, the forward 3x2 tiles (gotta replace them with 2x6 ones), and the rear structure between the engines. The engines are also a bit weak, but at least they're locked at an angle and don't wobble at all. The canopy is the only 2-wide one lego produces, so it is what it is. There's also nowhere to put a proper landing gear, just this makeshift peg. It's close to the center of mass, so its reasonably stable (and can be used as a handle to swoosh the ship around :) ) Quote

icm Posted Friday at 09:20 PM Posted Friday at 09:20 PM Looks very good. Those are the same parts used for the front profile of the A-wing in the new Smart Brick set. Did you come to this solution independently? If so, kudos to you. If not, it's still a great MOC! Quote

I actually started working on it at the end of November. It took me quite some time to source all the parts, then make improvements, then order some more parts... I wasn't surprised at all when I saw lego using these exact pieces, they are quite an obvious choice, and do match the shape as perfectly as you can get in bricks. Daiman Posted Saturday at 06:50 PM Posted Saturday at 06:50 PM This is the perfect scale imo for a lego minifigure spaceship. Well done indeed. Quote
