An early review of this new tech:

 

The funniest part to me is that Darth Vader's cape is cut short so that the minifig can interact with the brick, but it just made the whole minifig looks ridiculous.

no. What you are Looking for is a PU hub ;-)

From what I understand, the tag is just a list of notes like a midi steam.
If that's the case then in theory you could add customised sounds using compatible smart tags.
What is unknown is if the instructions are in the implanted RFID chip.
If its in a chip, is it a normal common band RFID chip.

I wonder how many will be brought then parted out for the smart brick.

The cape is only that short to place Vader in the Tie Fighter without removing the cape.

As there is the wastebin printed on the mini figure, I guess there is an RFID chip in the torso.

The basic principle is actually nice, but the sounds are horrible... when the primary function of the Smart Brick is its sound, it should sound good in the first place, which it doesn't...
