I hope for a normal series with a few animals, a castle fig, pirate fig maybe or hopefully a naive American since it has been a while. in short something for everyone after 3 specialised series in a row..
Do not mind one bonkle fig in that series if that is something the fans of that would like to see :classic:

TAHU. BIONICLE. IS. BACK.

Minifigure bionicles are a neat concept and I'm very excited to see one as an official product.

I just hope for a completely normal set. By normal I mean that there is actually a minifig in it.

MINIFIG.

And yes, a Bionicle in minifig form would be awesome.

Obviously anything new Bionicle is a must get. Curious how they'll do a minifigure Tahu, arguably they need to get the Mask correct the most, whether that be a face print or a helmet or however they adapt it.

I'm kinda hoping it's a 25th Anniversary Bionicle CMF wave.

  • If it's a success then they'll bring back Bionicle in future probably as minifigures in sets with the occasional brick-built characters and mechs/constraction figures. If the theme proved succesful they could do more mechs/constraction figures.
  • If it's a failure then, well at least you can say that Lego put in a lot of effort for the 25th Anniversary of Bionicle and took a risk by doing an entire CMF on Bionicle.

If it's not that, then it's probably a celebration of varying original themes that have ended over the years meaning we could get a figure from each of these themes:

  1. Bionicle
  2. Rock Raiders
  3. Nexo Knights
  4. Monster Fighters/Hidden Side
  5. Jack Stone
  6. Hero Factory
  7. Galidor
  8. Fabuland
  9. Exo-Force
  10. Elves
  11. Atlantis/Aquazone/Aqua Raiders
  12. Agents/Alpha Team/Ultra Agents

It's not going to be a full wave of Bionicle we would have known by now.

It is unlikely (though not impossible), but I really hope it is, against all odds.

I think the mask needs to be a molded helmet, a full CMF series has the budget for it, there's just no reason to make it a printed head. Plus, even though they're called "masks", the majority of them do extend to cover the top, and often sides, of character's heads.

I'm hoping as well. It's unlikely, but it would be really cool, and I feel like a full series of what would appear to be cool robots would have some mass appeal... more than a full series of identical racecars at least.

My guess is that the Bonkle minifig (whatever it ends up looking like) will be used to help take some of the costs away from a bigger Bonkle set coming in the fall. Sort of like how the Monkey King CMF was a precursor to Monkey Kid.

I also think that it will be the only specialized "reference" minifig we get in the series. He already have a "themed" series in January, and I think info along those lines would have leaked out by now.

I dont think this will be a themed series. Just like Series 25 and 19 werent themed series. They just happened to include throwback to Johnny Thunder and Basil the Batlord

Could it be a costume?

Similar to the Devil kid in Series 16

It's possible, but I don't see what lego gains by that as opposed to just plopping a minifigure representing Tahu himself in the CMF, whether it's his own, a lego IP themed one, or a Bionicle themed one.

I mean this with all the respect due as one of Mata Nui's loyalists, but "Tahu Bionicle in the CMF is a precursor to a big bionicle set" may be the most delusional take I've heard so far. And I am so, so on board. This would be the best timeline.

It's not too much evidence, but it is important to point out that knights and civilian-styled adventurers aren't quite as... unique as Tahu. It's not strong evidence that the whole series will be themed, but I wouldn't rule it out either.

Not so far ago we got minifigures in season 26 for M:tron, Blacktron "2", Ice Planet and no new sets are even rumored for these...we had only Blacktron "1" sets (10355+40580) and seems there won´t be anymore.
Like I was expecting something for three themes as well...

Well with the new rumor of Lloyd in the series it's definitely not happening.  It may be an all-star series of Lego CMF's or just characters from classic Lego themes.

Now there is a rumor Lloyd is going to be in Series 29 as well

I'm gonna live in denial for a while longer and hope that someone saw a green figure wearing a mask and thought it was Lloyd, when it's actually Lewa  After all they referred to Tahu as the 'Red Bionicle' so if they don't know much about Bionicle, perhaps they don't know Lewa...

Stepping out of that for a moment, still leaning to my other option of an anniversary theme for original Lego themes: Bionicle, now Ninjago.

Yeah, it's probably the first option I'd suggested, an overall lego IP anniversary theme:

You could easily also do something like "Tribal Robot" or "Fire Mecha"

Two options I see:

Some sort of lego legacy wave, such as (using the "tahu bionicle" naming convention the leaker went with):

1. Aquanaut Aquazone (female) with new two-piece dive suit helmet/mask, as well as flippers, a compass, and harpoon

2. Chief Rock Raiders with new drill mold.

3. Nick Galidor with molded cannon gauntlet arm attachment and a small molded shark/bike thing.

4. Slizer Roborider: sort of like the racecar driver guy or cowboy, there's a large waist attachment piece representing a roborider bike (Swamp) with a minifigure representing a slizer (Jungle)

5. Tahu Bionicle with molded mask and fire sword

6. Pepper Roni with skateboard and pizza

7. Kai Ninjago in his pilot season design. The classic Sword of Fire mold is included alongside a new ninja wrap with the fabric ends trailing off like in early promotional art, as well as a new piece attaching to his hand to represent a small flame wrapping around it.

8. Ashlee Galaxy Squad with blaster and molded alien buggoid

9. Laval Chima in his original design. A mostly faithful translation of his blue outfit with the cape, but the hair/face/crown piece is updated to represent the show design, as is the armor piece (which appears more like shoulder pads in the show)

10. Calia Ultra Agents with a white stud shooter and alternate pink hair alongside a new molded helmet and torso armor piece representing her hardlight armor.

11. Macy Nexo Knights with a new molded helmet and armor piece alongside a brick-built mace and shield

12. Parker Hidden Side (New combined Hair/Beanie/Headphones mold and a ghost mold with a 1x2 tile representing her phone.)

I tried to keep this as realistic as possible with a reasonable (though not exactly 1:1 given I don't think the slizers and roboriders have gender) male/female ratio, varied colors, and varied archtypes ranging from close to civilian, to sci-fi, to more medieval, etc, with robotic and animalistic characters as well

PLEASE. (Stepping outside of our collective denial, it's definitely Lloyd, the leaker referring to Tahu as "Tahu Bionicle" was probably in reference to the "John Halo" joke of referring to characters as "(first name) (franchise name)". He calls tahu the red one but he also calls Lloyd "Lloyd Garmadon from ninjago (the green one)", so I think it's either as a joke or to tell people who are unfamiliar)

I like the idea of including Tahu (Bionicle) and Lloyd (Ninjago) in Series 29. But I am not very sure about other 10 minifigures. It’s kinda weird because we will have 50th anniveary of minifigures in 2028. So it’s difficult to predict what Series 29 looks like.

If so, King Kahuka is a safe bet

Not sure if I"ll like this seriies though

I would not necessarily make the same assumption given that classic Islanders in general can come across as racial stereotypes. They may be classics but I would not bank on them coming across the same to modern audiences.

Huh... Sounding like it'll be an "All-Stars" series. I also don't know if I really like Lloyd being in the series, as he's pretty common and already is getting some "throwback" designs this year anyways. Even if he is the face of Ninjago, there was probably someone else that might have been a more interesting choice.

EDIT: Apparently, Bricktap just posted that Series 29 is NOT a throwback/allstars series after all, and the other figures are "the type of figs you see in a normal series." Seems like several people know the list at this point - I wouldn't be shocked if the list leaked sooner rather than later.

Seems like my initial guess was correct and Tahu & Lloyd are the only „named“ minifigs in the series then  Hopefully we get more hints soon as to what the „regular“ minifigs will be!

Yeah, the rest of the series is ‘normal’ according to Bricktap on Reddit. Personally, I’m kinda relieved that was confirmed right off the bat – wasn’t looking forward to weeks of increasingly unlikely speculation followed by people acting personally victimized when most of the series didn’t follow the imagined theme.

Bionicle and Ninjago have anniversaries next year, so it makes sense for them to be honored somehow. Harry Potter also has an anniversary, but obviously won’t be included due to being licensed – although I do wonder if we’ll get some sort of Wizard or a Janus like figure (Harry Potter introduced the first double sided head) as a subtle nod.

This makes sense because otherwise, why should they include any Ninjago fig given that the theme is still very much alive and that fig only takes up 'space' in the limited roster.

Will Lloyd show up in a. RARE version in CMF? That’s a big question.

Like what if CMF Series 29’s Lloyd will not show up in regular Ninjago sets.

Now that you said Harry Potter, it would be interesting to see a genetic character like wizard or witch in Series 29 that “ties” to Harry Potter. We havne’t seen wizard or witch since Series 14

That would be very cool if they include King Kahuka  with a new mask mold! However, I agree with Lychir - it’s 2025 and wLego can’t do racial stereotypes even if it’s a yellow-skinned minifigure.  We haven’t seen an islander or Native American in non-licensed CMF series in ages.
