Vilhelm22 Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Afternoon all, With the closure of Big Ben Bricks, all the problems with HA Bricks last year, and the new EU laws causing Breckland Bricks to pull out of the EU market, this has obviously left a hole in the custom wheels and rods market for European customers who don't want to import things from the US (thankfully I'm in the UK so I've still got Breckland Bricks). However, something on TrixBrix's latest instagram post caught my eye. The TrixBrix post states "We Solved Ballast. What's Next?" Below are countless suggestions and requests from various people around the world for things TrixBrix could do. As you can imagine, there's quite a long list of demands, including monorail motors, an R104 4 stud gap system, R88 points, and many more ideas/requests. But the one that stood out for me was the person who said "Big Ben wheels closed shop, maybe something for you to pick up. Wheels custom, maybe even sell full on bogie sets with less friction. Connecting rod for steam lovers." And TrixBrix's response: "- Soon " Somebody else followed up with "Please say this is true!!" And TrixBrix responded: "- That's true." So I don't know exactly when they'll be starting, but TrixBrix is making custom wheels now. Hopefully this will help a lot of people on this forum going forward who relied on Big Ben Bricks and others - losing 3 custom wheel sellers in the space of just over a year for different reasons was not an ideal way to go. TeddytheSpoon Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Oh I hope that comes in soon, and that they have a good range of sizes. I was hoping to get some Breckland stuff next time I visit the UK, but with a custom order that I can't seem to hear back about... Quote
CCSG Posted October 8 Posted October 8 They have posted a video on YouTube They are also listed on their website. Quote
nuttybrick Posted October 9 Posted October 9 (edited) great news. can four flanged D11 trixbrix wheels be fitted on a 880011 poweredup train motor? Which trixbrix rod would then be needed? 21344 Sapphire Star motorized by a single 88013 poweredup motor (StijnD MOC-165803) is largely underpowered even on R88 tracks, so do you think that the above suggestion would improve performance❓ Edited October 9 by nuttybrick Quote
TeddytheSpoon Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Literally the day after I ordered from Breckland they come online! Ah well, TB didn't have the sizes I wanted anyway. I'm intrigued to see what people make of them in-hand. They look very good. Quote
thesnoqualmieroute Posted October 9 Posted October 9 The motion of the rods in the video appears really inaccurate. I think the actual rods for sale are not bad, but it seems to me that they did not do their research nor have much knowledge surrounding the motion of valve gear, before putting out a product. Quote

Sven J Posted October 9 Posted October 9 No XXL wheels? That's rather disappointing. 4 hours ago, Pelzer117 said: Am I mistaken, or are these just 3D-printed wheels? That would be a bit disappointing, too. Did you gather it from the wheels' looks, or did I miss some information? 6 hours ago, thesnoqualmieroute said: The motion of the rods in the video appears really inaccurate. Yes, really weird. Quote

Based on how the wheels look, I don't think they are injection-molded parts. Multicolored wheels would probably be too much effort. On the other hand, there is no information anywhere about how the wheels are manufactured. Or did I miss that Information? Quote

Yeah they just confirmed it at the comments of the YouTube Video. 😞 BUT Ben (Big Ben Bricks) said on his page, that: “Many people have reached out to me with interest in Big Ben Bricks. In the coming weeks I hope to have more information on what that transition may look like.“ So there is still HOPE Quote
