Eyrezer Posted September 14 Posted September 14 (edited) Even the once quaint settlement of Notomys benefitted from the rebuilding across Historica that accompanied the coronation of the new Queen and relative peace. Modest industry in the form of saw and grain mills was supported by an influx of settlers from across the Enchanted Forest and beyond. With many struggling with the indigenous Jerboan name for the settlement, 'Evergreen Falls' became the more commonplace name. Build notes I displayed this MOC at the Wellington Brick Show, in September 2024. Its footprint was 18 baseplates (3x6), although there was also open caverns on the left hand side, so it was 20 in total. Based on some good tips from the GoH server on Discord, I built 32x64 sections using the Moduverse template from SweBrick. I had a few broad goals when I started the MOC: to have some mechanisms. Ultimately, there were 4 on display - the waterfall and sawmill powered by one motor and the windmill and a man cutting grain down powered by a second motor to have a decent amount of verticality, not just a flat scene. The rocky outcrop on the left helped achieve this, but I also incorporated two raised baseplates, which I find a fun challenge to integrate in a way that looks decent for a modern MOC density and at least some of it off-grid. While it cuts against the ultra-detailed style common in some of the best LEGO creations, I personally try to find uses for some BIG parts. The raised baseplates are one example, but the stables roof is a Belville mold, while the roof of the Adventurer's Guild uses Duplo roof pieces. I won't post them all here but there are close-up images in this album and a close up video of the whole build here. GeoBrick Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Beautiful scene. Those orange roofs really pop out well. The temple's green roof feels dim in comparison. Talking about the temple, nice composition on the walls, the place looks quite tranquil. My favorite parts must be the zigzag pattern on the sawmill's roof and the little pond just north of the fishing village. By the way, how did you achieve that tumbleweed look for the village huts? It looks like you used *alot* of flex ziplines (27965), but how you attached them (and to what) can't be seen on the pictures. Quote
TalusMoonbreaker Posted September 14 Posted September 14 This is great Eyrezer! I can recognize several of the builds like Notomys Stables, the fishing village, and the circular pool that you integrated into the village. The waterfall and all of the other moving parts are great. They really make the scene feel alive! What is the moduverse template? Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted September 14 Posted September 14 The diorama is too rich to capture every detail, but I really like the sawmill and the market stall area, so full of life and trade. The moving waterfall is the icing on the cake. Quote

Lots and lots of ziplines 😄 I started with a frame where the ziplines were all connected to the "espresso bars" on the base. Then I weaved more in and sandwiched them into place by a combination of plants sprues on the outside and 2x2 radar dishes on the inside. You might be able to see some here... I did that sawmill roof early on and it was pretty fragile. The columns holding it up aren't actually straight and use a combination of hinges and turntables to attach to the roof. Wonky but that's kind of the asthetic 😄 Thanks for the compliment on the rooves. I was forced to use the orange, flame orange, yellow combinations due to part availability. The initial roof colour scheme was actually set by the large Belville piece on the stables. 7 hours ago, TalusMoonbreaker said: This is great Eyrezer! The way I used it, its basically MILS but instead of technic pins you use technic axles to connect the sections. This way you don't have to use as much force to connect and separate - you just gently slide together or apart. I used this video here. 4 hours ago, LEGO Train 12 Volts said: The diorama is too rich to capture every detail, but I really like the sawmill and the market stall area, so full of life and trade. Kai NRG Posted September 16 Posted September 16 So cool to see this all like this! I am amazed by how much I love the orange roofs--such great splashes of color. Really works with the brightness of the landscaping and all the lime green. Just the sort of bustling, high energy MOC that's perfect for a con, wish I could have seen it in person. Quote
zoth33 Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Ironically there seems to be no evergreens in the build. Great build. I love the color selection and the different structures really make the build stand out. The little wood huts are great. The statue's by the waterfall are great. So many great details. All the villagers with there different wares and lifestyles really make this build shine. Well done. Quote

It was good fun at the con - lots of little details to keep people coming back @zoth33, haha yes! I can up for the name right at the end as I thought my original GoH village name - Notomys - was too inaccessible for a con. The statues by the waterfall are actually intended to be the Alien Conquest villains. I'll see if I can find a pic to show that. @Fcrocks thanks! Elysiumfountain Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Absolutely stunning job! There's so many cool details everywhere, I love the statues by the waterfall! And is that a niffler floating in a little ring? That's so cute! Very well done. Quote
LordDan Posted September 19 Posted September 19 It’s great to see the final version of this! The infographic style picture is awesome, so useful for a huge bustling layout like this to tell what’s what and point out cool landmarks. The various mechanisms are also great, perfect for a con layout. I love the fantasy vibes you have going, with the brightly colored orange and yellow roofs, villagers of many species, varied buildings and statues, and unique landscape. Quote

It is - two nifflers in fact, presumably having just rafted down the waterfall! On 9/20/2025 at 12:42 AM, LordDan said: It’s great to see the final version of this! Ben S Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Incredibly detailed build! I really like the mechanisms and how you have integrated that lime green landscape piece into the build, it fits so well! Quote
Grover Posted October 5 Posted October 5 Wow! This build is huge and amazing! I think if you put this in HSS, you may have a record, since I don't think anyone has satisfied all the requirements in a single build! The detail shots you provide are fantastic, since it's kind of hard to see everything in the overall shots. The detail in the woven sticks, the various vegetation, the color choices for the vegetation, the working waterfall and incorporation of the old bridge pieces, the awesome statuary, the niffler in an innertube on the river, the decorative mixel joints under the bridge and SNOT cheese slope stairs... I would encourage anyone who has not to click on the Flickr link and look. There's some fantastic techniques in here from the round mill and the stone archway on the sand green roofed round building to the broken slope pathway at the base and the fantastic olive leafed tree. Amazing work! Quote
Seagull King of Vaughan Posted October 14 Posted October 14 I like the variety of builds. Nice integration of large parts, and on the opposite end, those ‘tumbleweed’ huts with the branches are amazing! The dual names of ‘Notomys’ and ‘Evergreen Falls’ add an interesting flavour to the village. Quote
