[Fixed] Broken links

Is it possible to old links that were put into posts pre-update are no longer working? For example, I made this topic last year and it contains links to other posts and MOCs, which now no longer seem to work when you click them.

 

The URL gives a weird syntax with double folders. See this example I picked from the topic above:

https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/applications/core/interface/file/index.php?file=/index.php?/forums/topic/200382-ol-fb-la-revenante/

This is the same for all "old" links I have encountered. New links I did recently are fine.

 

Is this something that can be fixed, or are all the old links now false forever?

Looks like the way to link to specific posts may have changed. You're gonna have to correct them in your post.

For example the link:

https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/applications/core/interface/file/index.php?file=/index.php?/forums/topic/200382-ol-fb-la-revenante/&do=findComment&comment=3738398

should be:

https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/forums/topic/200382-ol-fb-la-revenante/#findComment-3738398

If you have a text editor with some advanced find & replace functions you can easily fix them all, since the post IDs (the long number at the end) don't seem to have changed.
To get the correct link to a post, hit the 3 dots on the top right of a post and click "Share".

Yes you are are, there is an issue there - we are investigating.

Right now I would recommend "leave them as they are" (non working right now) as my hope is I get it fixed for the former state working out again.

That's what I have been doing now, but I wanted to see if there was a better solution or if anyone else had this problem. Thanks for the input!

Hi. It seems that since the site update, it is no longer possible to upload any attachment that isn't an image file format and old links to such files no longer work, such as all the LXF files in the Official LEGO sets Made in LDD index for example. Will this be fixed or is this just how EB is now?

thanks for the report. As it contains different topics:

 

1. For broken links: I am working on it, to be able to fix this for old links working as before. But I need to take care to not screw up any further breaking anything else - so bare with me here please. :D
2. For LXF files that may have been an unintentional change we made with the upgrade - I may bring it up to the staff if we can configure to be allowed again.

Generally speaking there was a big gap inbetween the updates I applied - so we are sorry if some minor glitches may still be there, but I think we are open minded to hear everybody out to find solutions.

I noticed all the links to forum posts in my signature are now broken. Also, the forum links in the Photography Index topic are also broken. 

I don't know if that's the same broken link issue as above or a separate one, just figured I'd mention it. 

EDIT: To clarify, I think something in the structure of the forum URLs changed, which means all old links from before change are broken. Which is a bit of a bummer. The only fix would be to honor the old style URLs as well as the current style URLs, I'm guessing.

I just applied the fixes for hopefully bringing all old links back to life!

Please help me further testing and come back asap with any broken links you can find (please don't send me the broken link, but the URL of the page showing the still-broken link).

One exception here: Some very old emoticoncs are still not working - please leave them out as reports, as I am aware of those and that is another separate topic I need to address after this broken-links topic has been solved.

Thanks to @Toastie I got pointed to the links which are rendered in a preview iframe-window are still not showing up corretctly - found a fix for that & will apply that over the evening.. I will post as soon as this is applied.

Fixed the last finding of Toasti as well, so all previewed links within Eurobricks topics shall also be rendered correctly again!

Note the same issue, but still related to links.

On the Signup page → "Terms of Use" popup → "Member Guidelines" link is empty (i.e. href="").
