Franco Clarke Posted May 4 Posted May 4 (edited) Last weekend myself and @berninhr took our latest display to the annual Reading Brick Show. Following from last year's Toulon effort, we decided to harken back to the classic pirate style with an Imperial port and tropical island.  Here's an overview from one end. Due to the length of the display it is awkward to get the whole thing into a single shot.  This end was dominated by the mighty 64 gunner, returning from last year's display.  Behind the ship was located Berninhr's port, containing a mix of custom buildings and altered sets to create a bustling town.  From the bow on angle we can see the Redcoats rowing out to board their flagship, whilst smaller vessels ply the waters around the port.  One of these was the newly completed Rattlesnake sloop, making its first appearance. Berninhr's primary contribution was the glittering brick-built sea, finally replacing the blue cloth we'd used in our previous displays. To add some more life to the sea, I added this whale off the bow of the sloop. However my main build was this tropical island, with inhabitant village. Taking inspiration from the classic sets, I made use of parts not available back in the 1990's to add greater detail and depth.  The centrepiece was this Kahuka statue, based on the new Roger Redbeard figure. However, the main new development for this display was the addition of motorised features, which are best seen in video form. As always this show is great fun, and we intend to take the display to the STEAM show later in the year too. I have more pictures on the Flickr, let me know if you fancy any shots of any particular details. Edited May 4 by Franco Clarke Quote
Marooned Marin Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I have to say this is simply stunning. So many things going on, and motorized parts add extra layer of cool. I love the beach on the back, with poor Jack running for his life from pack of Islanders, and I especially love big Kahuka statue 🗿 Well done! Quote
GeoBrick Posted May 7 Posted May 7 At first I thought the Islanders used their cutlery for a decent dish (with the turkey on the table), but then I saw that corner where the appearant main dish was brought in. Quote

Nothing sinister here. Quote
NOD Posted June 14 Posted June 14 A great diorama with lots of details! A lot is happening, especially on the tropical island. The steamship is very interesting and the 64-gun ship is impressive. I also like the city; a roofer is currently at work. Quote
Fraunces Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Just great... so much to look at. I love the islanders part especially they do not get enough attention.. Quote
Yperio_Bricks Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Beautiful display! I always really it it when ships are displayed together with a proper port. The island adds a lot to the scene too! But what really caught my attention is that paddle steamer gunboat. That one looks fun! Quote
