idlemarvel Posted March 8 Posted March 8 More dabbling with LDD to extend my Austrian railway fleet with another retro style 6-wide loco. As you can see from the Wikipedia picture I had to indulge in more modern slopes, but otherwise mostly 1980s bricks. Here is a picture and information about the prototype, followed by a rendering of my LDD model. I have actually built it, but I don't have the red inverted slopes yet. https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ÖBB_2068 I should have added there is room in the cab for a City hub, filling it completely! Daiman Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Nice job so far, may I suggest using snot to get the vents running sideways, a grey studless bar at the front, an eighties train window for the door and even a small classic window for the front facing view windows down the cabin sides that you have ommitted. idlemarvel Posted March 8 Author Posted March 8 All good ideas, thanks @Daiman . I have used SNOT to get the black stripes, I can just extend that to have the ladder vents vertical. Not sure about the 1x1x2 windows but it does need something to represent those lower view windows. I'd like to try and represent those yellow centre dropdown coupling links but they will need some modern pieces. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Nice model (I didn't know it before today) I like the ship-style windshield inclination. I always like to see the 12 volt style! Quote
zephyr1934 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Looking good. In case you are open to unsolicited suggestions, the grills on the prototype seem finer than the full plate gaps between the ladder rungs. What about using good old profile bricks? Oh, profile bricks date to 1991 while red ladder plates date to 1980 (and !@#$% BL moved the ladder plate from "Plate, Modified" to "Ladder"). Quote
idlemarvel Posted March 10 Author Posted March 10 Thanks @zephyr1934 I am always open to suggestions especially from veterans like yourself! (Experience not age!). I did succomb to the temptations of the 1991 profile brick in my recent Crocodile model, but for this I wanted to try the ladder. To be honest I am not after great accuracy any longer. If I was there are a great many improvements I could make, not least of which making it wider. I'm happy if it is recognisable and portrays most of the key features. Quote
idlemarvel Posted March 10 Author Posted March 10 (edited) Thanks for all the suggestions, some of which I have incorporated. Latest render version. Bricklink order arriving tomorrow. Edited March 10 by idlemarvel Quote
