Angeli Posted February 11 Posted February 11 There was a contest a month ago, and one of the prizes was a mushroom house, beautiful set from LEGO bricklink designer program, designed by our talented Jonas Kram (when I say "our" I mean AFOL :) So I built some beautiful castles mocs and submited, and than reazlied I am mediocre builder at best compared with amazing creativity AFOLs around the world have, and no chance I will win the first place and set But than I realized one more thing :) I am not financially poor anymore :) and while 10 years ago 100 eur was investment I would plan months ahead, today (thanks to LEGO bricks), it is less than what I make in few hours. so, I just did unthinkable and ordered set over bricklink When it came, I built it with my five eyar old son who practically lives in my LEGO studio, ad I was blown aways how amazing set it - so I went to facebook and complimentes Jonas directly, and he mentioned Mashroom village, next set in line Also, I was building a 2m big Gazebo with thousands of flowers, and I had few flowers left, so I decided to build a diorama for Mushroom house I also wanted to put some bug-like minifigs in it, but than I saw someone on fb posting picture of hamster army (because they couldn;t find wolpack minifig for wolfpack minifig army:) and I loved it - so I ordered 16 of them from bricklink, as well as 16 red capes from Dr Strange minifi - I didn;t had any of those in hand and only realized when they arrived they do not match and it can be one or another :) And I started building :) I had so much fun, going outside my comfor zone when themes are in question (I am firstly fantasy castle builder), but I noticed over the years and dozens fo big fantasy castle diorama built, when I do something new regarding theme, it brings a dash of fresh that I immensly enjoy :) so I would advise all builders who build mainly ne theme to try to build something else, just to see if it will feel good :) I used the LEGO insects set, some botanical sets for sme flowers Here is what I have built :) You can find larger versions here: (link) Quote
Yoggington Posted February 11 Posted February 11 You should get outside your comfort zone more often, this looks fabulous! Quote
GeoBrick Posted February 11 Posted February 11 I can only imagine what you would create for the mushroom village once it comes available. Quote
Murdoch17 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Beautifully done! I also second what @GeoBrick said about the village. Quote
