Interesting 🤔 It looks like there's two different to me. Mrs. Harfoot on the left is 100% new, and I think the blue one Rosie has on the right is also new - the "ruffles" look much closer together than the traditional one Alice and Minnie have used. I think the left one would be perfect for peasant Belle. I do wonder if Lego is also to print on those skirts, though. Edited March 8 by JohnTPT17 Quote
Jarreth2 Posted March 8 Posted March 8 @JohnTPT17 i noticed the ruffles too, I wonder on the printing aspect though, i know obvioulsy they print on Alice's skirt, but might these ruffles be too much for printing ? Good shout on Belle''s village dress. 👍🏼 Quote
hikouki Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Apparently, that controversial Snow White movie will be showing this month. I'm glad Lego released the cottage way ahead of it so it doesn't suffer the negative reputation! LOL Quote

Not that they did a good job depicting the animated characters, so it's all the same to me if they did or didn't, but at least they recognize that the market is for the classic versions of these films. I think Disney only made that effort with TLM because they had a specific agenda they were trying to promote with that film, unlike these others. They were desperately trying to market that film, even making it part of the Oscars ceremony that year, which was unprecedented and completely lambasted. I hope Disney has learned its lesson and won't repeat this mistake by forcing these remakes on fans in the future. Sadly, I think WB might fall into this same trap if they start to phase out the Lego HP sets based on the movies for sets featuring this new remake show. Quote

I remember reading/ watching somewhere when they interviewed a Lego designer and it seemed that Lego was proactively helping Disney push that agenda. LOL I agree with you. Lego should tell stories true to its origins. People want classics. Moving on... I tried to make a Beast minifig MOC by using the animal legs from the CMF Faun. I used the torso from one of the pirates' admiral. Even though the animal legs are the same 'size' as regular legs, they look puny when the torso has the minidoll Beast head! So perhaps Lego wasn't just lazy in this case when they made the BATB castle in giving Beast a regular leg. Although I argue that they should have made him in a bespoke mold and not a mish-mash of existing parts. Edited March 9 by hikouki Quote

Although I argue that they should have made him in a bespoke mold and not a mish-mash of existing parts. I guess the blame doesn't rely entirely with Disney then. Lego's the same company that made a D2C Hogwarts Express set and excluded major characters like Hermione and Ron in their grown-up versions to instead include completely made-up characters. I have the CMF Faun. When I get the BATB castle set, I'll see how it looks with the Beast's head but it's good to know in advance it makes for an imbalanced combination. I don't really have a problem with him having normal legs though or being a minifigure. I always felt he'd look off if he was anything but a minifigure. I do think they should have done a better job with his legs, giving him side printing, and also colored his tail so that the front and sides aren't brown like they did with Robin Hood. It honestly seems like most of these Disney characters, whether Beast, Lilo, Nani, David, or Geppetto, would be better off in a CMF series where they can get the most accurate printing and full details. And in Lilo and Nani's cases, new hair molds. It makes me worry that when the POTC set comes out, that Lego will similarly scrimp out on potential characters like Barbossa and Elizabeth. But maybe being part of the Icons branding, they'll get better treatment than the usual Disney minifigure. Quote
Jarreth2 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 There's a review of the castle up on youtube. Doesn't seem as though there's anything hidden in the Wardrobe sadly. Unless reviewers have been asked to keep it secret ? It's a great set, although I still find the lavender colour slightly jarring. But I don't think there's another viable colour option ? 🤷🏻♂️ Quote
OttoRiver Posted March 11 Posted March 11 (edited) I feel like its a secret, only because I don't know why the function of a "dress" change would be included unless there was another dress to swap into. As someone who doubted there was a secret its odd to have it both confirmed to exist and yet there be nothing there. Edited March 11 by OttoRiver Quote
JeanGreyForever Posted March 11 Posted March 11 It seemed like wishful thinking to assume there'd be something as major as a whole new minifigure/dress hidden away. Not to mention, even if it was another of Belle's dresses, it wouldn't work with her current hairpiece. She wears a ponytail with all her other dresses so there would need to be a new hairpiece and head included as well. There are existing ponytail molds but none of them really look like Belle's ponytail, and she'd need a slot to stick in a bow. It's funny how even the minidoll Belles have never featured a new ponytail hairpiece for her, even with her blue dress adapted as a minidoll. Quote

I hope we get the Disneyland Paris Sleeping Beauty castle instead of the regular Disneyland one. The Paris one is the most impressive and my personal favorite of the castles. But I wouldn't be shocked if the next Disney Castle is just the regular one "upgraded" again, whenever the current one is retired. Quote
Jarreth2 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I think some ( including me ) were hoping for a dress change because .. yes Belle's yellow gown is the iconic Princess dress and is her dress in all the merchandise and iconic pictures, but when you think about it she only wears it for a short time of the film. Her village attire is ( I think ) the one that is on screen for the majority of the time. Oh yeah @JeanGreyForever I didn't initially think about there having to be a different hair piece, but agree with what you said. One thing that stood out to me was Belle being sat at the table for Be Our Guest, yes it's nice that she has the 'sitting down' dress, but she isnt in this dress at this point. Nit picking I know but 🤷🏻♂️ And Lego, please don't tell us this set has 10 minifigures when it only has 5 🙄😂 Quote

strangely Posted March 11 Posted March 11 (edited) It's so utterly bizarre for them to include a feature to store Belles dress, but not include a change of clothes. Side note, my new head canon is that the real reason the townies think Belle is so peculiar is because she's been caught hiding in random wardrobes lol. I'm holding out some hope that the blue dress will appear elsewhere. The new dress piece in the Shire set would be perfect for Belle's blue dress. Speaking of that new dress piece, I hope Lego gives us a new version of Alice using that piece (and in general just give us Alice in Wonderland sets), as well as Cinderella's peasant outfit. Come on Lego, make it happen. Edited March 11 by strangely Quote
hikouki Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I wonder how often Lego will be releasing D2Cs - every year now? Plus several smaller sets? I would certainly like those! I also wonder if all the Lego Disney releases will be widely promoted at the Disney stores? Quote

Aramar Posted March 12 Posted March 12 The trailer for Lilo and Stitch's live action movie is finally out and this film will probably be a huge box office hit. If so, hopefully Lego plans more sets in the future with Jumba and Pleakly. Quote
OttoRiver Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Leave it to Ashnflash to answer the question: the space behind the Wardrobe is to hold the "sitting" piece when not in use. Similar to the little alcove above for the not in use Beast parts Quote

Nit picking I know but 🤷🏻♂️ Belle wearing her blue dress during the Be Our Guest scene is part of the problem here. If Lego did make a new minifigure to depict that, they'd also need to create a complementary sitting version for the dining table. So we just like we get two of her gold dresses (one standing, one sitting), we'd need two of her blue dresses (also one sitting and one standing). And I can't see Lego going that route to essentially include four versions of Belle in one set. Quote

I think its just Lego combining the two scenes into one location Quote
Aramar Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Not exactly a new set, but the new Lego store under construction in Disneyland Paris has this amazing animated decoration: https://x.com/DLPReport/status/1902747667882553704?t=itg7haxxUKE7_dyfarwdiw&s=19 Quote
hikouki Posted March 22 Posted March 22 The Cruella dress set (43262) has a Cruella minidoll with a cloth robe/ trench coat. I wonder if this is compatible with a minifig? If yes, I do hope Lego remakes Cruella in a black dress and comes with this cloth piece. Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted March 22 Posted March 22 The mini-doll arms are really skinny and Cruella's coat has small holes to accommodate that. It seems more likely that a cloth coat for minifigures might become an official thing in the future now that they have done it for mini-dolls, but I do wonder if the reason they have now done it for a mini-doll but never minifigures is because minifigure arms lay flush against the torso whereas minidoll arms don't, so it won't get caught and drag under a doll's arm in the same way that it would a minifigure's. (I just noticed that the coat in the dress set has a furry texture on one side too.) I Quote
