According to Brick Clicker's latest video the price for the D2C Hogsmeade set is still USD 380 (we've had a couple sets change prices lately). Piece count is 3,228 so well over .10 per piece (as opposed to the big DA or Gringotts).

It is the most expensive D2C by price to piece, but I think the rumors that it is in scale to DA were taken too far. I think the buildings will be similar size, but won't be set up like an alley.

The new Italian Riviera set is how I think it will be designed with a lot of plate pieces to terrain in between the actual buildings.

I would be amazed if a death Eather or Voldemort were included, my preference would be a repeat of the DE from GRINGOTS on a broom.

HP is a theme known for being generous with its minifigs, so a third minifig in the Privet Drive Escape set seems very likely to me. The only new thing that‘s needed is a faceprint with goggles for Hagrid and everything else can be recycled, regardless whether they go for Voldy or a Death Eater

The price per piece ration is interesting, since typically when it’s higher than average it means the set will have A) large molded parts, B) large printed molded parts, or C) more than the typical number of minifigs for a set of that size.

I might not be thinking creatively enough, but I can’t think of anything in Hogsmeade that needs large molded parts, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a good minifig selection. Maybe we’ll even get a version of Aberforth in his kilt.

The weird thing is that Gringotts did have large rollercoaster pieces, the printed dragon's head, the fabric wings etc. and still managed to come in way below .10 ppp. So this here might just be the new normal for large HP sets; both the Great Hall and the Main Tower are well over .10 ppp, too.

I'm still not convinced and I especially don't think they'd put a Death Eater into what is shaping up to be another allowance-friendly set for boys. Like I've said before, these low-cost sets very much feel like HP's "City" line (two boys and a car, two guys and a motorbike), and a Death Eater would ruin the vibe. Maybe Voldie instead since while he's more fearsome than his Death Eaters in the source material, LEGO tends to treat him simply like someone for Harry to duel.

I can only think of: Hagrid (hopefully a new coat print/colour for his moleskin coat), a horse for a sleigh (the one Fudge arrives on in POA), and possibly a cow (there is a highland cow in the background of some shots in POA).

Maybe also printed windows like the original DA quidditch shop, rather than using stickers for Zonko’s etc.

Printed windows are kind of a must. If they use those awful window stickers from the Hogsmeade Village set for a EUR 380 D2C, that would be a new low.

Arkham Asylum official images leaked today which is a September D2C, so here is hoping we get at least a character list leak this week.

We got out first minifigure list for The Burrow on 25th July 2024 and had our first blurry The Burrow picture leak on 31st July 2024 so hopefully soon!

Yeah, kinda funny to think that the whole thing could leak before we get any information about the builds or minifigs :snicker: For Arkham, we got a full minifig list as well as a funny recreation in Minecraft, and for the Black Pearl, we’ve had a minifig list for months now!

Has anyone seen the new Privet Drive in person? I think it's great that they gave us a closed build but on pictures you also see how they skimped on parts in order to do so, i.e. the roof looks really bad compared to the previous version. It almost makes me hope that the Lovegood House will be just a facade like Malfoy Manor because I don't think a closed version at this price point would look good at all.

I have. It's a very neat compact build and personally I think it's a big step up from the last version due to the fact that it closes up. The only real problem I have with the roof is that they put leaf pieces on the roof for texture when neither the set or real location have mossy rooves from what I can see, but that's easily remedied by just removing them. I can also forgive the use of just plates for the roof, because the roof of Privet drive is very much just a mass of plain tiles and the studs do a good job of imitating that texture. Would black or brown stacked slopes look better? Probably. But I think the benefits of the compromise far make up for it. The stickers for the windows panes are also an absolute pain to apply, but they also makes the set look so much more like the real house than the last version as the diamond paned windows are a distinguishing feature of the house to me.

The Lovegood House has a very unique shape so I don't think the roof could be done quite so simply apart from the protruding front of the second level which could be done simply with plates. Seeing what they have done with the past couple of iterations of The Burrow I would be more disappointed if they didn't manage to recreate the wonky angles of the building. I do think the build is going to be rather small, but then everything is downsizing lately and it can work I think depending on the quality of the build. Of course, feeling like you are getting a good amount for your money is another story.

Wicked sets have leaked. They're licensed, well under or around .10 per piece, and even include a brand new lion mould! Just to keep in mind when judging HP's recent prices.

Universal vs Warner Brothers vs Disney

Licensing costs aren’t even, even amongst lines owned by the same licenser

Could be the reason. Or maybe LEGO just figure that the HP fans, along with the SW, Superhero, and Disney fans, will pay anything. Certainly the first wave of Wicked sets was heavily discounted around here where Wicked/Wizard of Oz isn't really a thing. Other recent licences like Netflix' One Piece also have a much more reasonable PPP ratio than HP lately.

In other news, Arkham Asylum has been revealed and it's EUR 300 for what amounts to a 32x32 modular plus a vehicle. The D2C Diagon Alley was EUR 400 (now EUR 450) for what amounted to two modulars and Gringotts is EUR 430 for what amounts to maybe one and a half (depending on how you count the dragon and lower levels)? I'm curious how much content we'll get for Hogsmeade!

The first 2 return LOTR sets also had very affordable price per piece ratios before the sets this year. I partially think in earlier years of a theme they go lower to build customer loyalty to the new theme.

If the Hospital Wing set is POA themed, I hope it includes the One Eyed Witch passage as a reference to set #4751. This was one of my first themed Lego sets and would be easy to incorporate into a ground level design similar to the hatch below Fluffy.

@BrickBob StudpantsOuch. Going by the Brickheadz Balrog and lately the Fortnite banana that dragon's not going to look good. Not to mention the size difference between a bunch of teens and an adult dragon.

Considering the upcoming set descriptions are some of the things which people have had on lists for a while what do you think Lego can do next? If you could direct a wave of sets for next year what would they be?

- Reasonably priced, with plenty of allowance-friendly sets and no EUR 250 "playsets"

- Playset-heavy with little to no buildable crap thrown in

- An equal gender ratio for minifigs especially in the lower price range so girls will get some characters to identify with too

- For once not a single fricking car or motorbike in what is supposed to be a magical theme instead of City 2.0

... Yeah, I don't have high hopes overall.

As for what sets I would like, honestly I don't even know anymore. These last few waves, the sets whose concept I liked (such as Malfoy Manor) were way out of my price range, poorly executed, and just not worth the money IMO. And prices have gone up so much, as evidenced i.e. by the playset Diagon Alley which costs almost as much as the D2C version but you get so much less for your money. And the Most Expensive Hogwarts ever will stick with us for at least one more year and if people buy it I don't think the next iteration will be any more reasonably priced. I'd like a proper Ministry in the style of the D2C Diagon Alley but not for EUR 400 and I'd like small classroom sets but more like we used to have them in the 2000s, not full of stickers and made for that stupid slide-out system with not even a plate to stick things on. Honestly, at this point all I'm hoping for is a set that'll make me go: "Wow!" instead of: "Really now? And for how much? Are you serious?"

- Shell Cottage. Niche, but if we can get the Lovegood house this seems fair game

- More classrooms in the style of Potions and Charms. Divination especially

- A Fantastic Beasts set likely themed around Newt (this seems like a great place for build-able creatures)

- A redone First Task set and don't skimp on the budget

- The Leaky Cauldron (really hoping this is the rumored January 18+ set)

- At least 2 facade sets of the castle each wave and one in the $180+ range. I don't care if the interior rooms are out of place if that allows them to visit new portions of the castle

The only things I still want from the theme are sets based on Dumbledore and Voldy’s duel and the Battle of the Department of Mysteries  They’ve already done everything else I’ve ever wanted, and that used to be a looooooooong list!

I just hope for more "most detailed hogwarts castle"-expensions to be honest. I am seriously worried they will end it 2026 incomplete.
