idlemarvel Posted May 9 Posted May 9 I've been working on a plan to incorporate the new Central Train Station #60469 into my layout. The idea is it will be a low relief station frontage, with the front of the trains appearing from "behind the scenes" until the front of the train or loco is visible. Once it has stopped for a few moments it will move on. This way hopefully you won't notice the station platform is only 20 studs long! Picture below shows a plan view with 16x16 grid in yellow and the outline of the new station in red, as best I can determine from the set pictures. There will be a road leading up to the station, and a tram track alongside the road which will terminate behind the station frontage. For some reason the new train set #60470 (which I don't think I'll be getting) is available to pre-order from lego.com but not the new station? Quote

What is the source of this information? We were thinking we'd see the switch to a new system either in 2025 or no later than 2026. Holding out for a replacement until 2030 would be using really outdated technology at that point. Quote

Hi, I asked the same question about a month ago, see this response from @Blacktron2 in this thread on April 26. The info is from BrickTap. And as TLG about to release another train on June 1 with PuP hub, motor and remote, it seems unlikely to me that TLG will ditch PuP this year or next. Quote

Murdoch17 Posted May 13 Posted May 13 LEGO is releasing all unsold copies of BDP Series 1 & 2 on May 20th, at 8 am Pacific time at the online LEGO Shop. The catch is it's only for US and Canadian residents, and we don't know how much or of what there is to get. But this could potentially mean Old Train Engine Shed, Brick Cross Train Station, and / or the Logging Railway could be up for sale in (probably) small quantities. Be sure to set an alarm as it will all go FAST! (More info at Brickset.) Quote
zephyr1934 Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Another train bit in a city set in the "little bit of every sub-theme" 60473 The City Tower. Interestingly, it appears to have the metal axle wheels, but maybe that was just a CAD oversight on their part. Quote
idlemarvel Posted May 22 Posted May 22 From the MARVEL theme there is this new subway car https://www.lego.com/en-gb/product/spider-man-vs-doc-ock-subway-train-scene-76321 Some nice light blue gray pieces in there. Available 1 August, you can pre-order. Quote
M_slug357 Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Its funny how the truck is like, x4 larger than the train... Quote
Shiva Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Well, the train is in LEGO train scale. While the truck is more in, well, real scale. Quote

Though they do end up looking a little silly side-by-side. Incidentally, the designer of the new train station set has notes on its design on their Bricklist. Like I figured, the design was meant to give the station a sense of age by featuring historic architecture with modern expansions (an approach I've seen more and more in architecture lately—there are some good examples in this article). The execution here is a good deal simpler than many of those dramatic real-world examples, but then again, architecture in the City theme generally tends to have to be simplified somewhat to keep it easily buildable by young age groups. Now the instructions for #60469 are available I have built a facsimile from the bricks in my collection. Bit of a dog's breakfast but it is correct in all the main details, apart from the main arch. I made my own version of the transparent canopy on the left. I wanted to test if it would work on my layout with a curve before and after the station. My grandson added a few details, like the white station clock and the window cleaning cradle on the right. It works well for 6-wide trains but 8-wide trains catch on the left hand side rear corner so I had to move the wall back one stud. Otherwise the clearance is fine. In terms of height, the car transporter from the Freight Train set #60336 (which is 8 wide) with the car on top just fits. Now I know it works I might invest in the actual set. I might even get two. As my grandson pointed out, how do passengers get from one side to the other? With two you could put two sets "back to back" and have a lift both sides with a bridge across, rather than a control room, and maybe add an intermediate stop on the lift to provide access to the mezzanine cafe! idlemarvel Posted June 10 Posted June 10 (edited) TLG have released a new version(4.2) of the Powered Up app which includes an app for the new Arctic train set. Edited June 11 by idlemarvel Now available for FireOS a Quote

Murdoch17 Posted June 14 Posted June 14 (edited) NEW 2026 TRAIN SET ALERT! Going on sale June 2026 for BDP series 8 is this Brick Railroad: Diesel-Electric-Locomotive (A-Unit) by user ThomasRoeder and it is simply amazing! rear view top and side It can we motorized using PU through three methods, but none of those parts are included. In the flesh! If it makes it past the threshold in June 2026, it will ship out November of that year. (Now we just need a matching B unit MOC!) Edited June 14 by Murdoch17 Quote
Space78 Posted June 14 Posted June 14 Cool!! As long as Lego doesn't somehow ruin it in the "refining" stage, I'll definitely get the two set limit. Quote
Shiva Posted June 14 Posted June 14 ThomasRoeder did have 2 other candidates for Series 8. One was with the B-Unit https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-8/2735/Brick-Railroad:-Diesel-Electric-Locomotive-(A-Unit-&-B-Unit) And the other was A-unit, with 3 wagons https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-8/2742/Brick-Railroad:-Scenic-Train Quote

JGW3000 Posted June 14 Posted June 14 Yup, I should have checked - https://www.railpictures.net/photo/693421/ thought it looked familiar. If I get the set, I'll get some custom stickers made. Quote

Since there are no printed bricks, it will be easy to customize with stickers. This is the ONE TIME I wish the order limit was higher on the BDP program. Assuming (hoping) the price will come in around $150. Quote

Assuming (hoping) the price will come in around $150. They increased the limit on certain projects for the current series. Tortuga, Transylvania, and Popcorn Wagon all had increases when they got to a certain point - otherwise they would have been sold out on Day 1. Nobody but LEGO knows if this will continue with future series! Quote
zephyr1934 Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Excellent to see more trains coming through BDP, and this is a great build Quote
