Auroralampinen Posted yesterday at 06:52 AM Author Posted yesterday at 06:52 AM (edited) Ok, out of pure curiosity since lego copied my outrigger design for the 42242. I had to test does the 42242 outriggers work on the Mechatech Logging Truck and surely enought they do work on the Mechatech Logging Truck:). So my theory what happened and why lego decided to copy my design. Well, i strongly think a rooky lego designer saw my moc and thought hey this compact outrigger design could work in our small unimog and i released the Mechatech Logging Truck in 2025 so i don't this was a concidence that me and the lego desinger landed on the same design. Well, it could be concidence a really really rare concidence. But i have strong suspicion that the rooky designer just went to rebrickable and saw my moc and decided to go the easy route by copying my design and slightly tinker with it and im completely fine if you copy my designs just put credits on the description and i will be really happy and i did ask lego about this but since 42242 isin't revealed they cannot help but they did say that said, I would like to reassure you that we take intellectual property and the work of our fan community very seriously. Our design process involves extensive internal development, and we do not use fan-created models or designs without going through the proper channels, permissions, and agreements. Protecting both our designers’ work and that of independent creators is something we are firmly committed to. But i strongly feel that because the 42242 isin't revealed/released yet. I strongly think lego want's to create lazy excuses for copying my design and not to have take full responsibilty about this copying. But i will ask them when the model is revealed/relased again and we will see if they make new excuses. Because my trust for lego is completely vanished and tarnished after the launch of their new Smart Play AI+ system crap so my hopes for lego taking full responsibilty for copying my design is really really low:). Man i really wished that "chinese" were the only ones copying stuff but apparently danish are too liable for copying. Well, nobody is perfect but lego makes/wants you to believe so hard that they are the good guys and everyone else is the villains. Well, not anymore since lego clearly copied my design;). And i probably slightly excasurated the word "stolen" and i should have using the term copying i don't think lego maliciously stole my design(eventhought i think they did). But i strongly think a rooky lazy designer wanted day off from work and that’s why he decided to copy my design because its the easy route plus i do design my models with strict standards and clearly my strict standards did pay off since lego accepted my outrigger design in a offical set with slight polishing on the design:). Auroralampinen Posted 23 hours ago Author Posted 23 hours ago (edited) Hmm, the 42242 licence plate says LT which probably means Lars Thygesen. Now i have even more questions how can a senior designer land on same design of outriggers as on the Mechatech Logging Truck and i have no hate towards him. But im still baffled how this can happen that i released the Mechatech Logging Truck in 2025 december and 6 months later the 42242 releases with the same outriggers as on the Mechatech Logging Truck. How this can happen i have no clue. Yes, i know relax it's just a simple outrigger. But now i have even more questions because it is not anymore a rookie designer who just started working on lego but a senior designer. So did we both land on the same design by accident or did he just want a day off from work and copied my design because its the easy route. I lean towards possible copying. Because if this was a concidence this would be really really rare concidence that we both landed on same design without knowing each others. Hopefully i will get after 42242 release much "professionaly" written message from lego how this happened. Im really really interested and curious to hear/learn from them how this happened. Because now they just write "excuses" because the set isin't yet released or revealed. But i have to question them in summer about this:). Edited 23 hours ago by Auroralampinen Quote
Jundis Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago (edited) Dude, in all seriousness: This is not a copying of your design. They just found the same solution for a common problem. In your pic above you even changed the upper connector in your original design to an L-shape liftarm to make your claim... Just be happy you found the same solution :-) Also you seem to have copied it from Lego first (8069): *Edit: And from my MOC from 2021: Edited 22 hours ago by Jundis Quote
