Hello

I'm currently trying to figure out the best way to build some water around my pirates displays. My plan is to just have water in the immediate area around each build. So the plan is not to cover the whole table with water. What would you suggest?

The display in question:

Lego Room update

(please ignore the winter toyshop, its been disassembled since this photo).

Spontaneously i'd say plates in medium azure (or an other blue color of your choice) like Lego did with Barracuda Bay and Eldorado.

Personally i prefer tiled MILS plates, but i guess that is not an option here. I was thinking about water techniques a lot recently. I came to the conclusion that i want to try a 3 layer approach with colored plates as a base layer, trans light blue plates in the middle and trans light blue tiles on top. It's the best looking result of my tests, but unfortunately very parts intensive.

Usualy, I would say "just put a lot of random 1x1 trans-blue pieces" all around the boats, but, it's a shelf... :pir-sing:

I realy like the water used for this diorama from LEAHI (LEGO Enthusiasts Association of Hawai’i).

Oh I've totally forgot about the medium azure plates they used on barracuda, that could be the solution here! Big thanks!

That could probably work, should be able to make a nice edge without the black border around it.

I always surround my ships with a throng of round 1x1 plates in various trans-blue (trans blue, trans clear, trans light blue, etc)

Thats always a good idea to be honest. :pir-huzzah2:

My pleasure! I like your Eldorado and Lagoon Lock-Up :pir-love: Do you plan to expand the display?

Thank you! I'd be surprised if it didn't increase to be honest. :pir-grin:

Lego Lagoon lock-up

Lego Eldorado Fortress Revisited [MOC]

I've got a plan for these two this year. First I want to replace all Dark Bluish Gray with Dark Gray. Secondly I want to replace the Reddish brown with Brown. :pir-triumph:

Wonderful! Lagoon Lock-Up will always be my favorite set. And your moc is

Thanks! I managed to snag a copy of the original set a month ago for $29. Still haven't gotten around to build it tho.

I absolutely love the 3 layered approach. Really adds depth to the “water” and to me it’s worth the added cost of more pieces.
