rinatfruggi Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 (edited) Hi all! I built the Trophy Truck with two different front suspension setup and tested it under the same conditions. So here's a video of the test. Both trucks have the same rear and middle sections: Live axle, triangulated 4 Link , sway bar , two buggy motors, Mould King 4.0 power module, same wieght around 720gr. Now lets talk about IFS setup. Arms has narrow mounting points and “portal” wheel hubs for increased ground clearance and greater travel and reinforced by additional 6L link rods. About I-Beams I wrote all the technical characteristics in previous topics) So just few pic for references) Free instructions for both trucks:https://reb.li/m/170784https://reb.li/m/171282 I tried to provide as fair test as possible, but my heart belongs to the I-beams, so they are better for me) Share your thoughts about winner) Edited January 25, 2024 by rinatfruggi Quote
Aurorasaurus Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 I don't think one is better than the other, they both seemed to perform quite good. Good job making a fair test though! Quote

Zerobricks Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 I would dare assume say independent is more efficient, since there is less sideways motion on the wheels and thereby lower friction and lower load on the bearings. Quote

Thanks for your thoughts ! Perhaps but its no to so critical under speed load and I think that the test shows that I-Beam is at least no worse than IFS and has the right to exist in Lego Quote

That, it reminds me of a tatra suspension just with a different pivot and they have that exact disadventage. But considering the length of the suspension arms the sideway motion will be less. Anyways nice work replicating eye-beams with lego parts :) Quote
