Found this news post from 2007. Apparently the site almost got shut down due to financial limitations by the owner 18 years ago! It's a wonder it survived this long and remained free. https://www.brothers-brick.com/2007/07/16/brickshelf-shutting-down-july-31-2007/ Quote
Brickshelf Archive Posted February 4, 2025 Posted February 4, 2025 (edited) Since nobody is interested, I will be shutting down my archive site of Brickshelf that I posted previously. Just wanted to help, but I guess it isn't needed. Edited February 4, 2025 by Brickshelf Archive Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted February 4, 2025 Posted February 4, 2025 @Brickshelf Archive Why not giving it some days for people dropping by, reading and getting back to you with their kudos? I went to your site found there is no navigation available & only a searchbox, I tried 1-2 known names (kl himself and lego911 I think it was, but both gave me no single result). So my feedback is: I think if it would be more easily browsable, you may attract more people. Thanks from my side for you having good intentions to backup contents for the community to not have another disaster like the MOCpages site happening. Please don't directly delete the bucket as then all pulling off their servers would really be a pure waste & possible work on the mentioned improvements for browsability. btw, thumbnails are created - the great zipping started.... may take my server some more days to pack all contents up. @R0Sch please don't expect me to directly have something prepared the next days to consume as i am a poor web developer and I may work on that on the weekend... :P Quote
Brickshelf Archive Posted February 4, 2025 Posted February 4, 2025 Not sure why you didn't get any results. Here is kl for example: https://brickshelf-archive-7c8bea29901f.herokuapp.com/shelf/member/kl Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted February 4, 2025 Posted February 4, 2025 Ah, I can reproduce: Happening just on mobile it seems, not on desktop: opened the link which was working, went to the burger menu and put lego911 in the search and hit the button -> it was still showing kl's profile. Hope it helps. Quote
icm Posted February 4, 2025 Posted February 4, 2025 @Brickshelf Archive: Thanks for making that archive. I was wary of clicking the link to check it out, because you are a new member and your very first post included a link to a website I don't know anything about, for the purpose of large file downloads. Now that @aFrInaTi0n has checked out your website, I feel like I can trust you and your link. But I hope you understand why I was wary. Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted February 4, 2025 Posted February 4, 2025 Ah yeah, may add to why the response was so little to the offer - so yes his link contains a backup of files, but I just checked two example profiles and went with the folder views, not clicking deeper as I was doing so while WFH and was in a haste :) Quote

If Brickshelf does go down, it'll be great to have your archive at least, so thanks for your work :) Quote

You did a great job and it is very much needed! I can even use your website to link pictures here. Edited February 6, 2025 by SpacePolice89 Quote
weavil Posted February 16, 2025 Posted February 16, 2025 This is sad news, but hopefully it can stay up. Here is Kevin's Brickshelf page. I came across it long ago when doing "random" on the site. The numbers in "()" tell what order a person joined. If Eurobrick people can't complete an archive, I think people on Reddit's Data Hoarder group could help. Quote
apemax Posted February 16, 2025 Posted February 16, 2025 Looks like Brickshelf might be saved, At least according to this post: https://bsky.app/profile/wallofhistory.bsky.social/post/3liaamf262c2q Quote
R0Sch Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 @apemax That is good news indeed. Thanks for sharing this. Quote
SpacePolice89 Posted March 24, 2025 Posted March 24, 2025 (edited) Now it has happened. Brickshelf is down . When I try to go there this text appears: Not Found The requested URL was not found on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. UPDATE: when i go to the starting page this appears which is good news: Brickshelf will return… Wall of History is working on restoring Brickshelf. Join our Discord server for the latest updates! All my pictures linked from Brickshelf are not visible on Eurobricks anymore though Edited March 24, 2025 by SpacePolice89 Quote
SpacePolice89 Posted March 24, 2025 Posted March 24, 2025 (edited) Wall of History is happy to announce we’ve reached an agreement to acquire @brickshelf. Following transfer of ownership in April, the site will remain online with all functionality restored. We’re working out the details of a smooth transition now, so stay tuned! This is very good news! https://blog.wallofhistory.com/ Edited March 24, 2025 by SpacePolice89 Quote
anyUser Posted May 4, 2025 Posted May 4, 2025 Today is noted that brickshelf is been online again. Folder that I have added since last summer are "published". However, any user login does not seem to be allowed. Quote

Yes, user login not (yet?) allowed, but that is for the future. All Brickshelf linked pictures/content should work again ... this is so nice! Whoever made that happen (maybe others know, I don't, da force or whatever happened) - I'm on my knees. All the best Thorsten Quote
anyUser Posted June 7, 2025 Posted June 7, 2025 Has anybody seen information whether the new owners of Brickshelf will restore acces to user accounts and allow new uploads? I sent out an email to the given contact but got no reply. I don't feel like subscribing to the various platforms just to search for future usage of Brickshelf. Quote
BrickWild Posted September 23, 2025 Posted September 23, 2025 Brickshelf takes longer to load (30 Seconds typically). Also, there's still currently no login function (since March this year) either. Quote

It is also possible to create new accounts (I didn't test that because I already have an account but I tried to upload a picture and it worked). Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 Just the pingback: Registrations are enabled again on Brickshelf, put a Frontpage news about this: Quote

I noticed it just now. @SpacePolice89 and @aFrInaTi0n, this is simply breathtaking. I don't know what to say - nor do I have >any< idea where the funding came/comes from. I was following the announcement, Christoph's move (yes, others tried too) to save all the content of Brickshelf, the actual shutdown, the multiple responses, the reopening (at that time read only) here on EB, as this is my sole platform for interaction regarding The Bricks. And now this. What a "success story" ... but who is covering all that - I tried "Wall of History", but it seems I am too old navigating this website. Here is to Wall of History and to all the people behind, beside and in front of it All the best Thorsten Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 Yepp it is! Cheerio for Wall of History - they themself have only the old blog entry of taking over shown. Their reopened registration was shared via some social media (fb it may have been, not sure where I found that after @SpacePolice89 pointed that detail out). Also 5€ less monthly for me not needing to keep the 5TB mirrored images from back then.. Quote
BrickWild Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 Is it still possible to delete unwanted images or upload Studio files? :-/ Quote
icm Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 Hmm. I went to make a new account but it said my email address already has an account. So I put in my email address to get a recovery password, but no recovery password email ever came. Quote
