xwingyoda Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Guys, here is my latest creation: the Concept Odysseus (CO) !!! Its anpther small reckon ship without any weapons. I was chatting with Apo on friday and he showed me a real awsome "bubble" ship !!! I wanted to create one of my own. I admit this CO is quite simple but I I think it turned all right (at least better than the two first ships I have done). I wanted a combination of white and orange (the cokpit of SW Ep2 ships was fantastic for that matter !!!!). Here is the ship that inspired me (I told you I was going for a japanimation touch one of these days !!): And here is my small CO Quote
xwingyoda Posted July 23, 2005 Author Posted July 23, 2005 Here is another pic !! As always comments are more than welcome ;) I hope you like my 3rd Moc ship !!! Ohh, btw this time the MF fits perfectly and I added just the minimal amount of cokpit details and greebles (yes Apo, there are some in there :P ) I will upload the full gallery of pics tomorrow into my Brickshelf account ;) This is just a taste of pics to come. EDIT: brickshelf gallery uploaded: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=138043 Quote
Ras 74 Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 No one has anything to say to Yoda about this?? Funny! I think it is a great little wheasel. I have no idea where to it belongs. I think that you should do a little change on the bubble though. There should be a brick on top and under the bubble. And the "ring" would go from there. But that Quote
xwingyoda Posted July 24, 2005 Author Posted July 24, 2005 Tks for the compliment Ras :$ ;) At least some kind words after all the work done ;) Me neither I don't know where it belongs hehe, in Yodaland I guess |-D I was testing something with this little CO, and I think the concept is great. However, I do agree with you on the brick on top and under the the bubble to connect the engine circle. I tried something but did not turn out so well, due to the size of the ship and my lack of grey connecting parts. Now I will do (when I have all the pieces I need - keeping fingers crossed for Billund) a much larger version. It will be a mix between the real Odysseus and the Tie Bomber. There will be two bubbles (longer than this one) connected to each other (like the Tie Bomber). The connection is where the Engine Ring will be attached (like the real Odysseus). Furthermore, there will be 4 engines: two like the ones of the CO and 2 more: 1 up and 1 down. I think that the connecting part will hold rocket launchers. I will ad weapons and the attachments will consist of two brick and not only one. !!!! Quote
ApophisV Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Hey, nice little craft! It has some Tri-Fighter feel with the "ring" around it. As Ras said, you should add something between the cockpit and the ring to make it looking more oval and to get this overall eye shape. I really like all those small white flaps around the ring, even if they aren't all the same parts, they fit together very well... The orange parts also go very well with the cockpit printing, good color scheme! Can we see more pictures, especially from the back? (*cough* brickshelf *cough*) It's hard to justice the canopy since I have no idea what it's overall look is... :$ Nonetheless really an unique MOC! Hope to see more soon! :) Quote
jonfett Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Nice work Yoda! I like the fact you based it on an original design. The ship looks small but sleek! I like the use of clicky hinges to creates the arms to the wings, and I like what you have done with the cylinders. My only critiscm is that the back of the ship looks a litte flat, from this pic anyay. Perhpas you could build it outwards a little to make it look like a semi-sphere. But other than that great work! I can't wait to see what you do with your next plan, and good luck finding the parts in Billund! ;) Jon. Quote
xwingyoda Posted July 25, 2005 Author Posted July 25, 2005 Tks Apo and Jon :$ ;) I admit I am not very found of the rear as well. I wanted to have a real flat end, which did not work that well, then I've put that half sphere to make it less flat. Its better that way but far from being perfect. For the next one, I will keep the same front bubbles which work quite well, but will have to rethink 100% the rear. Also since I will be adding two more engines (1 up, and 1 down), I will haver to think of a way to attach those properly to the main body (not quite sure yet how to achieve that). Quote
Vader Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Looking good yoda, i would agree with jon though that the back does look alittle flat but apart from that its superb :) Quote
xwingyoda Posted July 25, 2005 Author Posted July 25, 2005 Tks Vader ;) The more I think of it, this ship will be part of the "Team Odysseus" space discovery, a trilogy of space ships !!! yeahhhhhhh I've already talked about the second ship. The third ship will still have the same bubble, but will be longer and will have real wings and not the "ring engine type" . I will have to include all the space crew of that Team Odysseus and some old school droids and maybe small vehicles !!!! The second ship will be longer and I hope it can hold some discovery rovers of some kind !!!! Oh boy, I'm excited by this project hehe :oD Quote
chewie Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 yoda this looks great i would however suggest you make the engines a bit bigger and maby make a tail on off the back..other then that it looks good..it reminds me of a submarine from the new designer sub set Quote
xwingyoda Posted July 25, 2005 Author Posted July 25, 2005 Tks Chewie ;) Excellent remark there !!!! The bubble is inspired by the mini sub in one of the first Alpha Team set (the sub had a blue bubble) :) Quote
chewie Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Tks Chewie ;) Excellent remark there !!!! The bubble is inspired by the mini sub in one of the first Alpha Team set (the sub had a blue bubble) :) ohhh i know what set your talking about....and what does tks stand for i have seen it so many times but never known what it ment Quote
Capt_Jim Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 You know, since this is a Lego Star Wars board, you should say 'thx' instead of 'tks'. What, am I the only one that gets that? Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 13, 2005 Author Posted August 13, 2005 Guys, a little update on Team Odysseus. My Team Odysseus crew is finished !! It has two cute small droids !! My Rover is completed !!! It is bigger than expected ! The "trunk" can fit either the two droids or a cart !! The top of the rover opens and can fit a recon drone (I still need to do that). It is also heavilly armed (just in case !!!): two major phaser guns on top, two blasters on the sides, and proton missiles on the side as well !! Pics will be posted this coming thursday ;) Stay tuned !!! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 17, 2005 Governor Posted August 17, 2005 You know, since this is a Lego Star Wars board, you should say 'thx' instead of 'tks'.What, am I the only one that gets that? THX the surround sound system named after the alpha component of the title of George Lucas's first film. George Lucas also coincidentally being the creator of Star Wars? Nah. Don't think anyone will ever get that... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 17, 2005 Governor Posted August 17, 2005 Here is the ship that inspired me (I told you I was going for a japanimation touch one of these days !!): This reminds me of G1 Unicron... Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 19, 2005 Author Posted August 19, 2005 Guys, I've taken your criticisms into account and I've totally modify my ship !!!! I've made it longer, modified the rear (which looked really crappy I admit), slightly modified the engines (now the booster ring is in the middle !!), modified the top and bottom !!! Here are some pics !!! Enjoy Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 19, 2005 Author Posted August 19, 2005 And here is the rear which looks much better I think !! Quote
jonfett Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Much better Yoda! Not that the 1st version was bad.. (ok I'll stop talking ;)) I like the backside, much rounder and better looking! (sorry, couldn't resist! ;)) The engines look much better represented with the trans-orange round plates and grill pieces. The dark orange domes on top look nice and I like the symmetry created by the wing piece in the middle at the back.. makes sense to me anyway! Your fleet is looking impressive so far, any plans for them? *twisted* Jon. Quote
Da Moon Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Hello everybody, It is my first message on this board so hello again. I don't know if someone said it to you xwingyoda but your image was taken from a french animated serie named : Ulysse 31. I give you a link (in english) : http://www.idi.ntnu.no/~torgerk/ulysses31/ Otherwise i liked your MOC series. The colors were great (not again a gray spacecraft !!!!) You give some idea for MOC of mine which was stopped.... *wub* @+ Moon PS : Excuse me for my english level i'm not a natural speaker. :/ Quote
xwingyoda Posted September 26, 2005 Author Posted September 26, 2005 Tks Moon ;) Welcome to our friendly boards ;) I'm sure you will love it here with us !! Where are you from ?? France I imagine, am I right ?? Yeah Ulysse 31 was such a great source of inspiration for this concept !! The bigger ship is even more look alike (I do need to finish it though !!, I just need to redesign the rear which is crappy right now and modify some details !!). You can see a more advance version in the caption contest 4 in the Viking Month Forum. Quote
Da Moon Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 You're right, i'm french. I didn't know if i could "speak" a lot on Eurobricks for now... For two link reasons : I've to finish my school, And write in English is a challenge for me... :/ (So it take me time to much time... But i read and appreciate. :P ) Quote
chewie Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 looks great Yoda!!!! I like this one alot more, I really like the fact that you extended the body on the front and back, it looks awesome!!! :oD Quote
