Surge Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 brickclicker told me he heard it should be revealed on wed next week, so i could see a teaser on mon or tues
doclord Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 Considering that the disney figures are all bordering on CMF tier this year, or basically CMF tier, Belle and Beast could've just been shuffled to their own retail set.

There’s already a lot of inconsistency. Rapunzel and Snow White should’ve had legs considering both of their dresses are ankle length like Mulan who received legs for her CMF. I think the large dress would’ve helped Cinderella too.

I didn't even realize it but Raps having the dress piece is silly because one of her defining design features is that she's barefoot.

Exactly, another is her long blonde hair which appears to be waist length again 💀 a little underwhelming for my favorite princess but still glad she’s getting a minifigure.

Yeah, I think Rapunzel (and maybe Snow White too) would have been better suited to regular minifigure legs with a cloth skirt piece. But I'm just excited that we're getting these characters in minifigure form! My kids have the minidolls, but I always prefer traditional minifigures (and my kids go back-and-forth on which form they prefer).

Lego should make a Princess set where the main ones like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, etc are in movie-accurate clothing. Cinderella with the light silver puffy gown, Aurora in blue, etc. It could even be the alternate bookend to the Villains set. Lol

Meh, that’s a very American holiday - Disney might be American based but Lego isn’t so it’s completely possible they’d ignore in regards to social media announcements. It’s not like any Americans will be abstaining from digital media for the day, and an American holiday isn’t going to mean a European social media team won’t be coming into work.

JeanGreyForever Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 Anna is another example of a character who the skirt piece didn't work for imo. Her dress is as short as Rapunzel's and shows off her boots which are of course missing in the minifigure. Snow White's dress is longer than Anna's and Rapunzel's, but it's still short enough to show off her ankles and shoes. Ariel's blue peasant dress is the same length as Snow White's. If they ever did minifigures for Aurora or Belle in their peasant dresses, the skirt pieces would be far too long for them as well since they have relatively short dresses. 1 hour ago, hikouki said: That’s a great idea! Cinderella with the light silver puffy gown, Aurora in blue, etc. They've done that before for Dorothy as well as Luna Lovegood. Not to mention Tinker Bell's original minifigure had a cloth skirt as well. My thinking is that they were making the princess characters based on the bright colors used for them in merchandise (blonde Cinderella in blue, Aurora in light pink, tons of glitter, etc.) because those are the looks the public especially children associate with them. Once they've made their minifig debuts, down the line we could hopefully get minifigures that are more accurate to how they actually look in the movie. If the Star Wars, Marvel, DC, and Harry Potter characters can all get tons of variants of the same look, there's no reason why the classic Disney characters can't either. We've already gotten an updated Maleficent which was more movie accurate for the most part. Sorcerer Mickey is another character I'd like to see a new version of because the current one has way too much wrong with him: eyes that don't match the size of other Mickey eyes, yellow shoes instead of brown/tan, glitter all over, and no fabric tail to his robe.

When I saw Snow White included in this castle, my first thought was whether they could still make a variant of her for the Seven Dwarves cottage. …a variant distinguishable enough from this version, but still faithful to the original. Knowing Disney, and looking at the Little Mermaid as an example, they’ll probably base the upcoming cottage out of the remake. Snow White will be based off the live action actress, and there will be no dwarves, and random animals instead. LOL

LOL A variant would probably look like Jarreth2's avatar with a more movie accurate design. A dark blue torso and a beige line down the middle with no sparkles. Perhaps a cape as well. Yes, it is questionable how they'll do a cottage set for the remake since the remake doesn't really have a Snow White, any dwarfs, and not even a prince. Based on how Mermaid has flopped, it wouldn't make sense from a financial standpoint to make a set on another remake that likely won't do well either but I guess that's Disney for you.
hikouki Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 I was thinking about this more... After the photos of the castle leaked, and we now know that Rapunzel is one of the princesses included, could Disney release the rest of the princesses during this anniversary year??? The ones we are missing are: Wendy - could be in the rumored Peter Pan set??? Beauty (and the Beast) - could they get their own set??? I am really hoping so... Raya Merida - especially considering that she got her own Brickheadz Mirabel
JeanGreyForever Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 Prince Eric is also missing as a prince. Prince Phillip as well if the Maleficent dragon set is not set in stone. One could throw in Kristoff as well due to Frozen's popularity.
doclord Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 (edited) Front of the box leaked. Only those 8 and no Aurora/Phillip. Castle looks great. Edited June 17, 2023 by doclord

BacktoBricks Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 Oh boy! Only 8 minifigures; that is very disappointing, especially as Tiana is basically voided by the CMF version. Can't deny the exterior looks good and all props to the designer, but whoever is doing the budget is taking the mickey.
Jarreth2 Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 It does look great but it’s a shame about the 8 !!! Quite disappointing 😔 Especially as Tiana is a repeat .. oh well .. won’t be a day one for me, i can wait 🙄
BacktoBricks Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 (edited) Always funny how people who find things early 'in a store' only have a potato camera and an amazing ability for funny angles. Edited June 17, 2023 by BacktoBricks

Exactly haha. Just... hold still, focus, take a few more seconds. I bought the previous castle and probably would have gotten this one if the model were an entirely different castle. No sense to me in buying a remake that's about 80% or so the same castle. I will get the figures some other way if I want. I can see a lot of the reviews saying, "If you didn't get the first one, it's definitely worth it... if you did get the first one, there's not enough to justify having this one too." It looks really good, though. Edited June 17, 2023 by mirkwoodspiders
OttoRiver Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 Exterior looks great but as others have said, I don't see this as a day one for me. Had there been 12+ minifigures I would have reconsidered but with only 7 unique figs to the set, I'll either wait for a sale or buy the figs some other way. *Starting prayer circle for Belle and Beast before this wave is done*

Lego-Disney was off to a good start this year, then a few anti-climactic releases... that non-closing royal shell, now a sparsely-populated castle.
