jlivingstonsg Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 (edited) ------------------------------------- Hi. I build telerobots as a hobby and some is in LEGO EV3. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLi0zyNfBMXA8SMBR8jWbhCJ7RWjkjBnN_ Would it be interesting to set up a room with some of these EV3 robots and let people log in from all over the world and have games with them? With a simple cheap code/device , I have also been able to control my robots over the phone network , with no wifi. :) So if you dont have any wifi these robots can be placed anywhere on earth if you are able to make a phone call there. :) If anyone here have lots of these EV3 systems and have a place for a robot arena, then I would be glad to explain how to build them and set it all up. Jim Posted March 23, 2022 Posted March 23, 2022 Hi, This sounds like an interesting idea. I have stored my EV3 at the moment, so it's not for me at the moment. It would be interesting to see this come to life. Quote
jlivingstonsg Posted March 23, 2022 Author Posted March 23, 2022 Lets try to find people who have EV3 in a city and set up a arena with some robots? I have a code on Github who can manage the IP queue that I used some years ago that need a update. https://github.com/jlivingstonsg/waiting-room-to-telerobot http://robot1.gamereality.se/index.php and then with a power floor they can be running 24/7. :) https://www.bumpercar.com/electric-floor Regards from Sweden Quote
glowytheglowbug Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 thing is that when making the robots and things someone needs to pay for power and for keeping it running (because when making a sumo battle just imagine the chaos when robots start to do flips. maybe try renting or using the place from a robotics centre which uses lego? im quite sure there are many (also there is something like this called isotopium Chernobyl Quote

(I want to create a sort of minigame in my room using this system and my current moc) Do you want to use raspberry pi , arduino or a android phone ? I use Android phone and a app called robocam https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.proghouse.robocam to show kids tey can do it with a phone and a LEGO robot. The robocam app give you a IP adress so anyone in your local router wifi network can open a browser and get video stream and control to the IP link. If you want to control from outside your local wifi you need to open port in router called port forward or open DMZ in your router. Read about robocam and see youtube videos to learn. Questions? Then get back to me. Regards from Sweden ----------------------- Quote

The android app called "RoboCam" , make the phone to a wifi network camera. So you build a LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robot. Then you put your phone on the robot. The app RoboCam communicate to the EV3 with Bluetooth. RoboCam also connect to your local wifi and create a web link that any devise in your local wifi, with a browser, can log in to. So with a computer or phone, with browser, in your local wifi , you get a video stream webpage and also controls in the webpage. If you want to control your robot from another city or country you need to open a port or dmz in your router. The same can be done with raspberry pi or arduino and other circuits. Regards from Sweden ------- ah just curious how would i do it if I had 2 ev3 robots? (my project is one bottom tank base with 4 large motors and a top ev3 with a 3 DOF robot arm I might need a little help as I cant seem to figure out how to use the app I've gotten it to somehow work with my Chromebook and bad phone but I cant seem to figure out how the controls work and what the settings do if you could help thanks! by the way the thing I'm trying to do is make my robot work so right now what I want is for w to move the motors b and c and for s to move b and c in reverse and for q to move a and d forward and a to move them in reverse if you could teach me how tobocam works that would be highly appreciated thanks! Did you read all text on Google Play / RoboCam ? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.proghouse.robocam&hl=sv&gl=US The developer of RoboCam have a webpage on how to set up the RoboCam. Please translate the webpage with Google translate in your browser. http://www.proghouse.ru/tags/robocam He also have great information on coding it. http://www.proghouse.ru/tags/programming-tutorials http://www.proghouse.ru/tags/tutorials-on-using-programs ----------------- Probably best to create more ports on EV3. http://www.mindsensors.com/blog/how-to/attach-mulitple-sensors-to-a-single-ev3-port Then you need to set up more mailboxes in settings in RoboCam and then code your own program in this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbaYTZtptOg or this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yU5H5g0xLA that you then upload to your EV3 and then you write in the file name of your EV3 program in RoboCam so that it is activated when starting your robot system.
