If they're still too scared to do the other 3 members of the decepticon's big four, Grimlock is definitely the next up. Primal would be really tricky, since you're shifting from a blocky G1 aesthetic to a much more round and organic looking one. I'm not sure they'd be able to do it. Quote

Paramount completely stopped making transformers movies after TFONE (the best transformers movie on a more critical level, even if the energy of the 1986 movie is something I wish I could inject directly into my veins at all times) underperformed at the box office. Then Hasbro said the future of the franchise was games in an investment call... then cancelled the only AAA game in development. Suddenly, from the top ropes, we get the news that Michael Bay apparently decided he was coming back, and if I remember right through some lego loophole they have to let him or they lose the rights? •insert very long sigh• I suppose the Bay movies weren't the worst, but still... Anyway, that Soundwave look fantastic! Yes, his chest compartment and tapes appear too square and Laserbeak seems kinda blocky, but other than that... Definitely buying it day one! Also, in the clip I noticed a framed picture of an ambulance strongly resembling G1 Ratchet's alt-form. Could that be a hint to the next TF LEGO? There was also a picture of a large yellow construction crane, reminding me of Bayverse's Bonecrusher(?) from the first movie. Regards, Mitch Quote

I watched it a few times and did not catch the reference. Definitely a potential Easter egg. Would LOVE to see more, and those would be a welcome addition to this collection. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Soundwave is definitely my favourite out of the three Transformers so far! The idea of including a sound brick is genius and I also appreciate the tiny version next to the plaque. Quote
mantax Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Soundwave so far Looks simply amazing, and he feels like the best Lego Transformer so far. You can literally say "Soundwave superior, Autobots inferior". It doesn't look like there is any parts forming, except the shoulder blaster and the weapons for Ravage and Laserbeak. Thats just like his G1 toy, so its completely fine. For me personally the best detail is how the chest opens by just pressing a button, it's simple but very effective. From the video so far the sound brick can play the G1 theme, as well as he can say his name(it cuts of, so I think it will be his iconic line). I would expect that there's more sounds, but if not then what's included is still really solid. Now I only hope he doesn't have parts that detach easly, since that was a big problem with Optimus. Rjbricks Posted Thursday at 08:30 PM Posted Thursday at 08:30 PM Damn, they had to go and do the cassette . Now I have to buy it. And explain to my kids what a cassette tape is… Quote

Regards, Mitch My view, as someone who really doesn't like the Bay Movies, is they're at least better than the franchise literally dying, which is what Hasbro seemed determined to do. And at least even though movie wise we might just have Bay, show wise, if the rumors are to be believed, we might be getting the best transformers cartoon ever made with the Energon Universe adaption. 1 hour ago, Rjbricks said: Damn, they had to go and do the cassette . I agree, it would be absurd to expect lego to solve the partsforming when hasbro themselves haven't solved it. The G1 theme and Soundwave Superior would be enough, but I really hope we get "Ravage, Eject" and "urr urr ehhh eeh ahh ahh eh" or however you prefer to spell the noise. Quote
FGsoat67 Posted Friday at 03:22 AM Posted Friday at 03:22 AM (edited) Just hopped on Studio and made an update to Optimus Prime's hands using the new design Soundwave has. Saw on the Lego reveal livestream that Joe Kyde was back on this model, which explains the disconnect between Prime/Soundwave and Bumblebee in terms of quality and transformability. This hand model can "hold" Prime's ion blaster the same way his original hands can, but the hole in the hands allows him to hold Soundwave's gun, Ninjago or other large mech weapons, and will enable him to hold the Star Saber and Forge of Solus Prime mocs I am currently designing. On the left is the new hand in "robot mode" and on the right is the hand transformed for storage how it would normally attach to the truck mode. Let me know what you all think, my mocs will eventually be shared here and then posted to my rebrickable, look up fgsoat67 if you want to see some more cool transformers or classic/90s space themed mocs! Yeah, that's true of course. I'm curious about that Energon Universe adation, now. Also, as a kid I used to watch Transformers: Robots In Disguise on tv and remember quite liking it. Thinking of buying the dvds somewhere now Regards, Mitch Quote
Artanis I Posted Friday at 09:25 AM Posted Friday at 09:25 AM I watched the 30-second video. When the scene-change music played, I was super stoked by that. Hoping for a few Frank Welker vocoder lines from the TV show, along with the obvious one from the movie. Quote
Dolor Posted Friday at 09:31 AM Posted Friday at 09:31 AM Same here. My plan is to collect all Transformers sets. Then customise them. For example those side builds need some tuning. Quote
pjhinthehouse Posted Saturday at 12:52 AM Posted Saturday at 12:52 AM So I've made an attempt to copy (although I didn't have all the right parts) the official Laserbeak, but I've shrunk it to 8x5 (instead of 8x6) to get closer to a cassette aspect ratio, and make the fins less blocky / chunky: Quote
Dolor Posted Saturday at 09:52 AM Posted Saturday at 09:52 AM (edited) I like your version better than the version in official set. Such a cool set. Edited Saturday at 01:01 PM by Dolor Quote

I'm going to attempt Rumble and and Frenzy again but aiming for a 8x6 build. It means that they'll fit in the official set but be the correct proportions. Quote
CF Mitch Posted Saturday at 04:51 PM Posted Saturday at 04:51 PM (edited) I take it if there would be a GWP we'd knowny now, right? Just asking so I can decide where to buy/preorder this beaut @pjhinthehouse great MOC by the way! Much better than LEGO's version Regards, Mitch Edited Saturday at 04:54 PM by CF Mitch Quote

MarkyMark42 Posted Sunday at 05:19 AM Posted Sunday at 05:19 AM Looks like they've got the size about right too, not quite as big as Optimus but bigger than Bumblebee Quote

MarkyMark42 Posted Monday at 09:44 AM Posted Monday at 09:44 AM I think Lego will have missed an opportunity with Transformers fans when they don't make more cassettes for Soundwave. How good would it be to have Soundwave surrounded by 6 of his cassettes Quote
Dolor Posted Monday at 07:18 PM Posted Monday at 07:18 PM And the total price would be lower? GWP would be something. Quote
