MOC scale 1:80 Elisa K and Elke K dry bulk ship coasters

Hi friends,

For a commission i am building this dry bulk coasters and are sisters vessels. The scale is 1:80 and have around the 23000 parts without the carco.

Here is the start of the bow.

Do you make the prints yourself, or are they supplied by the customer?

Thanks @Jeroen Ottens, i don't like building sets and have also no time for it. Sure i have look at the first stud out ship from Lego and looks more at the building style from COBI Bricks.

Because my models are sending all arround the globe, that i must build a way stronger than they do

Great Question @Johnny1360, the most time i get the GA drawings direct in scale for the customer, but in thise case i have bring it to my own printshop and get them dubble printed on thicker poster paper. One for working with and the other for my wall.

 The chains are no problem to get through, only the plate is the problem

Something else I have always wondered about your fantastic builds too and you have probably mentioned. Do you ever modify pieces or use glue? I only ask because sometimes I just can't see any other way of doing it.

I'm just checking the post dates...: how the heck do you build so fast? Pretty much a whole ship in 3 days?  Do you build full-time?  I can imagine you have a lot of experience by now, but planning out all those details and shapes would take me weeks... months...

I believe he does it for a living, so the faster it gets done the faster you get paid.

I think the details are pretty good, but I am not happy with the sloping area in the front. Those stacked slopes look very block-like, and not very smooth at all. And it goes from staight side to the angle with no rounding off... I know LEGO is missing all the different slopes and stuff COBI has to make this more easy, but the LEGO Titanic proved it can still be done reasonably well. I'd say there is definatelly potential left untapped here.

Honestly, you must be the fastest builder in the history of mankind...  as @ludovisser said, a WHOLE FREAKING SHIP in like 3 days? Even for a million euros I would never get anything done that fast, let alone anything of this quality

That would be a great promotional, actually. Coasters displaying and advertising your brand!

Offcorse i can't build that fast and the ships are ready sometime ago, only got permission now to make it public.

I always llet see the building fases and not only the ready prodruct.

I appreachite a few WIP pics after the MOC is finished. It is nice to see how the MOC developed.

I don't like this bumping your own topic again and again every few days so it stays at the top of the first page.

Just make a nice presentation with the finished MOC and some WIP pictures, and post it at once. This "fake WIP" setup is not a nice thing to do imo. People will think of suggestions and improvement ideas, but in reality they could save their breath because the MOC is done already.

Lol, not a big deal too me but yes it does seem a bit disingenuous and a slightly underhanded technique. Still there are worse things and I enjoy the presentation.

Personally, I appreciate the regular updates - so please keep going!  If it was posted all at once, there would be too much to digest in one go (and it's of no concern to me if you're building in real-time or not).

@me00rjb Too much to digest in one go? It's like 7 pics with not very much text. I think the authors contents in this thread are still less that a normal presentation for a big MOC. I think your attention span should ba able to manage this quite easily if you are actually interested.

And I personally wouldn't appreachiate if everybody started bumping their own MOC threads every two days for no real reason.

You need to understand that some people don’t mind, and may even enjoy the continuous updates.

@sm1995 yes, I could. But it will appear again and again at the top of the front page, while new topics disappear to the second page even quicker( which probably wasn't a problem the Scale modelling Forum had lol). But it is posting behaviour that puts people that just post their MOC and wait and hope for some feedback at a disatvantage, and they'll feel like bumping their own topics too. Bumping your own topic repeatedly for no reason is what I'd consider "bad posting behavior".

"update" is not the right word to use here. The MOC is done already, nothing has changed that would require an update. I appreachiate WIP topics that are actually interesting, where the other users can watch a build grow and discuss ideas and solutios with the MOC creator. This however is no WIP thread but simply an excuse to repeatedly bump your own topic.

I will leave it at that, do as you wish. I just wouldn't want EB to become like Facebook and such where cool MOCs are disappearing if you don't check back every 30mins because of stuff like this.

You do have a valid point.

Hopefully it doesn't start happening more now.

It probably wasn't much of an issue at all in the old scale modelers, though, maybe doesn't go over so well now the two have been combined.

Still I hope to see more from this build, really enjoy looking at all the little details.
