Dear all

I am looking at buying some powered up parts (hub, motors, Remote) for MOC building and would like to heat some set recommondations for the powered up parts.

Buying trains sets will get you both the hub and remote but are there any other sets worth looking at to get powered up parts?

You could buy parts individually but, its a lot cheaper if you buy them in sets (on discount). :-)

Thanks in advance.

Yep, 42100 it is if you want lots of PU stuff in one package. Only two kinds of motors though. 42114 has three different kinds of motors but only one of each and one hub. The new Mindstorms set (51515) might also be something to consider as it has 4 angular motors and 6-port hub including rechargeable battery, which along with couple of other motors gets you much more versatility than the Technic hub.

But are you sure buying electronics separately is more expensive? I mean, if you just want the electronics, you can buy exactly what you need and nothing more from BL and that's probably much cheaper than buying large sets like 42100. Of course if you also want the normal parts, which are plentiful in 42100 or 42114, they are a much better deal, especially when bought with discount.

Thank you both for great advice. I will definatly look into those sets as well as BL. 👍🏻🙂

The train hub is different to the Technic hub. The small technic sets like the 42109 Top Gear car and 42124 Off road buggy also give you the Technic hub and motors with a variety of technic parts for a lower price.

Thanks again for your great reply.
Could you explain what the difference is between the train hub and Technic hub? And can the Technic hub be connected to the Lego remote?

The train hub only has two ports. If you wanna make a simple car than it works, but if you want to make something with more motors you can use the Technic hub, which has 4 ports. I’m not entirely sure, but I think that I saw some video where someone connected the Technic hub to the remote. So yes, to my knowledge you can connect the remote, but I’m not 100% sure

To connect a PU remote to the Technic hub, I think you have to use the Power UP App on your phone or tablet and code a control profile.

I take the opportunity of this topic to make sure that the #22127 part (Electric Battery Box Powered Up Bluetooth Hub) is the same as the #88012 set (Technic Hub). From what I understand in MOCs inventories, it clearly seems to be the case, but I wan to be sure that if you buy it, you have all the typical of the Technic Hub set.
