I couldn‘t find another thread for this (the other Friends theme existing certainly didn‘t help), so I decided to create a new one. If there‘s another one around, please merge them 

So, as you might be aware, there have been rumours of a second set based on the sitcom. Today, the rumours have panned out because a new minifig of Monica leaked  Does anyone remember the rumoured price point or part count? Or set number? I don’t think the initial rumours were taken seriously, because nobody picked them up

No price, price count or set number was leaked. It was just word of mouth that another FRIENDS set was coming this year.

Even the Trendsetter hairpiece could have been better. It's just mirrored

Lego is kinda stealing the popularity of these exclusive Ideas sets and profiting off of them. I get that people want more of it, but I kinda like that it’s one off. First Ghostbusters, now Friends, and then possibly Back to the Future. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of these, it just seems a little insensitive to the original creators.

I don't get that reasoning at all. The deal between TLG and the fan creators only concerns the one set they suggested, the rest is between the licenser and TLG. Do you honestly expect TLG to say "sorry Columbia, we can't do more than one Ghostbusters set, that would be unfair to the person who had the idea to turn something from your IP into a set". By your logic, the Minecraft theme wouldn't exist

If they are sticking to that episode for inspiration, perhaps we'll be getting Phoebe on a bike too?!?

I don't know if any other sets are iconic enough to warrant a set, maybe Joey and Chandler's apartment with the chick and the duck, foosball table, easy chairs etc? Monica's apartment is so much more colourful that it probably makes for a more pleasing set.

I’m planning on rewatching Friends soon, so this is perfect timing!

The only problem is that I don’t have a clue where I’ll be able to put it. (The classic Lego fan dilemma!) A set twice the size of Central Perk wouldn’t fit in the cubby-style bookshelf I have the previous Friends set displayed on.

Damn didn’t realize this would get that much hate lol. Didn’t even mean it that seriously, just wanted to put out an opinion. Shouldn’t have even said stealing, maybe I guess profiting off of it would be better, but I don’t really care that much as long as we getting good sets.

I don’t think it’s hate, that’s overused on social media when the more appropriate word is disagreement. It’s neither stealing or profiting. The person who submitted the idea to Lego doesn’t own any rights to anything. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is small print that states that Lego is well within its rights to make further sets if the Ideas set sells well. The entire premise is profiting from someone’s idea, and if that idea is an existing licensed property then the idea isn’t original anyway. The submission comes with a financial cut, so in essence it’s no different than a company using agencies to outsource work. Every for profit company profits from the work and ideas of its staff. It’s called capitalism. It’s ok to be wrong, it’s part of how we learn.

I'd love a set that would include Phoebe's New York Cab. Old timey NYC cab in minifigure scale? yessss

I'm surprised if this is true. Wouldn't think the set would sell well enough for a second version but I've been wrong a lot before :P.

I welcome the new set if it's actually happening.

It is, the Monica fig leaked on IG. I’m excited for this set purely because of all those purple bricks. Can anyone remind me of other outfits the characters wore in that episode; will have to rewatch.

The Central Perk set was mostly sold out for months when it first came out (and that was BEFORE the pandemic where just about everything has been sold out at some point), so I guess Lego were quick to greenlighting this other set after they saw how popular the Ideas one was.
