Tom_Brick Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 As I've mentioned before, I want to share some of my designs. The majority of which are actually different types of TIE starfighters. Here, I want to collectively present all the TIEs that I've designed so far, all of which are published on Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/?tag=14865&include_accessory=on&include_bmodel=on&include_subset=on Quote

lowlead Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Oh MAN what a lineup! The folding feature of the Outland TIE is fantastic, I like the dark red stripes on the 181st Interceptor as well. But the MINING GUILD TIE is my favorite of all! That one really pops - great design and color scheme! Quote
MAVERICK26 Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Amazing job! I would love to see the instructions for the outland Quote
Rubblemaker Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Really amazing collection here. My favourites are the Brute, Emporers Royal Guard and the Mining Guild fighter. Fantastic work! Quote
Brikkyy13 Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Excellent work on all of these models! Personally I dislike the large variants and prefer the slimmer design but I understand why you made both. The mini Outland is cute and the Defender is brilliant. I especially like the propaganda style you’ve used to showcase the models! Quote
Tom_Brick Posted March 10, 2021 Author Posted March 10, 2021 (edited) Thanks everyone. Regarding the two cockpit styles, the large cockpit is of course closer to the real thing in terms of scale, but I also like the sleek look of the slim one. That's why I kept both. Though I have to say, having built both in real life, I think the large cockpit works quite well in person. Below are some actual photographs with the interceptor having the slim cockpit and the TIE fighter having the large one. Personally, I am however most proud of the Defender, just because of the engineering difficulties I had to overcome and how well everything came together in the end, it was just a blast to build. I'll need to also create a second version though. The solar panels on the Defender were styled after the promo renderings of EA's Star Wars Squadrons game. When the Defender hit the actual game, the design had changed a bit though. The panels are now a bit shorter with a slightly different shape. I do like the pointy panels on the initial design, but maybe the shorter panels will also make the whole thing a bit less unweildy. Edited March 10, 2021 by Tom_Brick Quote
macaron35 Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 (edited) I already built the Tie outland, very happy with it :) I am waiting for moving to my new home to see how much space I have left to build more ;) btw I hope you will have time to look at the junction for the "wing arms" ;) thanks the Emporers Royal Guard and the Mining Guild fighter really have something special, the glossy red and yellow really work well with the shapes Edited March 10, 2021 by macaron35 Quote

I'll soon update the instructions for the slim outland cockpit to replace two of the pins with axles. Unless I can get rid of the pins entirely, which I'm not sure about yet. Quote
Stuartn Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 There all amazing designs. I especially like the design on the outland tie fighter, but all look very sleek and accurate. The cockpit design on the TIE brute is fabulous Quote

While I was at it, I also made some changes to the roof / top hatch. However, you can also ignore those changes and only look at the new arm-construction. The two changes are independent. Quote
MAVERICK26 Posted April 3, 2021 Posted April 3, 2021 So, do you use the same basic design for the eyeball cockpit? Great job! Quote

The Outland cockpit is completely different from anything else. Other than that, all cockpits share the basic philosophy but they do come in quite different implementations which I do reuse when possible. I have what I call a "slim" and a "large" cockpit. One of those is used on most MOCs. Except for the Defender and Brute which have new constructions but sharing some ideas. Edited April 3, 2021 by Tom_Brick I was a bit confused, so here's the real answer Quote
