I haven't come across that train part and can't seem to find it in the Bricklink catalog. Do you have a link perchance?

Sorry brain memory recall playing tricks - its a plane part not a train part (sorry) - 2958pb081 - its a 3x3 when I was sure it was 5x5 in my head...I liked the pattern but could not find any in the UK.  The other nice part someone used turned out to be not Lego but MB so that died.

In the meanwhile, i am still thinking about getting my own solution for the front engine.

Actually, Jerac may have the best solution, the clip rotated fully until they touch the dish to make a nice circle.

But somehow the antistuds of the clips are annoying me.

My test of tonight may lead me somewhere, i keep faith :)

@Hold0511

I am still jealous about your silver RC, but it did order those metallic silver slope before i did saw it ;)

You might be onto something. Can you rotate the clips a bit more inward to put 1x1 plates on their undersides? Maybe it would match the rest of the cone?

The clips are mount on the same part as the skis on the back, so yes its flexible and can be put more inward, but i just did it quickly.

Since i took the picture, i did offset the curved part its resting on 1/2 stud to the center, its yet fitting better.

I’ll keep working on it next week and post update.

Can't have enough silver...once you start though you may need to keep going...

This looks very interesting. It looks better than the 1x1 clips for sure.

I am currently busy with another projects, but I'd love to incorporate this into the "official" model as a free update one day!

I'm swapping out the black belt wheels for some trans neon orange ones to help with the rear engine glow so I think as soon as they arrive I'll give LfM55s mod a whirl....

May I suggest a slight alternative?

lMoGPdWl.jpg

This creates a slightly larger diameter (8 studs as opposed to 7) which ought to work better with Jerac's original front.

I don't have enough pieces to try this myself right now but I might give it a go at some point.

That’s great !

I’ll give it a try for sure.

I managed to make the curve flush with the 7stud diameter but i don’t like the result as it looks too small in diameter.

Now i have to look if i have all the parts for this but i don’t think so :/

Unfeasible for an official build, some of those steering wheels have slightly smaller ring diameter and the clip won't hold. Also, the bracket will cause outer gaps to be bigger.

But that general idea of clips around something round is definitely worth exploring.

My solution on 7studs wide doesn’t really work, final result seems too small :

But i definitely gonna work the way of ScottishDave. Even if the clip are not fully hold, they can be stuck with the brackets and the dish with some rework.

Update :

Who said it was an easy task to mod Jerac’s design?

I still think he nailed the more accurate and gapless front of the engine for now.

There’s something to look about ScottishDave’s input but i am too short in needed pieces.

For now I’ll stay with this version, where i finally kept the flexible tube used in the original design, but moved more inside

Anyway, I am waiting for other people versions on this one :)

I have the offical razor crest set, I would need to take the windshield from that.  Is much else from the official set used in this moc to help reduce costs or is it negligible?

Once you buy the instructions you can see what's used from the original list - its about 8/9% as I recall, the main pieces being the Canopy as you call out, the two carbonite blocks (but if your not opening it they can be skipped), the engine wheels etc.  If you have it and are happy to scrap it for parts as I was then it helps.  If you prefer to keep it then it won't break the bank if you can source another canopy or use the brick built alternative.

I think that's better than the "stock" just clips - I'll see if I have the clips in hand to try that for now and as you say see how the ideas develop further.

Well if everything is failing, you can take a step further and also remove the slanted slopes which form the cone. Then you could try some different approaches.

Few other ideas I was contemplating:

Maybe some of that will be useful.

Can't wait to get all the pieces together, still sorting through my stash. will first try with the original flaps and then let's see from there :) the canopy, currently not under 45€ in europe..............holy moly

I really like this one. I may give it a go myself.

Thanks also @Jeracfor sharing other ideas. I like them all better than the clip tiles .

Put a maximum price on this item in your wanted list and activate notifications for this one.

I see it as been sold as low as 0,57€ (!) in the last month sales..

I think you just have to be quick!

That version of the cone is obviously better gap wise than what I achieved but I prefer the curve of the original one.

And if i use this one, i still have a big gap around the flexible tube i can’t see how to cover.

Where I am now, as I have lot of room inside, at least i can rework the inside of the engine to get the vertical stuff and the blades you can see on some artworks.

I’ll have to make another bricklink order for pieces, but i am going to wait until i am sure about how many parts i need to order..

Thanks anyway for the input !
