I can finally do an AWD 1:10 scale car with a realistic width between wheels, less than 24 studs, thank to the land rover wheels. I always wanted to do these cars but it was impossible to achieve the right width without use the old 8880 system, now I have a few cars to build that I had discarded, let´s see what I am able to do, of course with the old style bodywork, flex axles and only a few panels.

Many years ago using the 8880 system.

Now using new wheels.

Yeah the Land Rover wheels must be really cool for the 1:10 car guys, because they offer a more realistic offset.

But for manual models I would still go for 1:8 any day, because you can have even more space for transmission stuff. I recently did a AWD car, and I managed to squeeze a 6-Speed transmission with center diff between the rear wheels so the interior stays free.

What kind of transmission are you using in the second picture? I can see a center diff, and at least 2 clutch selector rings, but how do you shift? Is there a 3rd clutch ring in the middle? I am intrested.

Yesss! Flex axles FTW!

I've always loved the "futuristic" look of those late 90s Technic sets. In principle it allows for "the most Technic" models: minimum obstruction to viewing the internal workings while still suggesting smooth bodywork. Indeed, I love my 8448

All completely a matter of personal taste, of course. :sweet:

It had 4 clutch selector rings with a 7 speed and reverse manual gearbox, it had to be operated by a gear shift level like most of my cars, always using the system I saw in Tyler Reid cars.

I think the same, I do not like too much overcharged panels cars...

I will try to do a 959 because I like it even more than the F40 and I know it none done yet, also the base would be very similar for any 911. It would have to be easier to do than the F40 but we will see because I have to confess that I have been rebuilding my F40 but I ended up frustrated... even keeping the main parts intact, almost all bodywork, I didn´t like it enough...

959 is based on 911 with lots of features (for heavy price) that were ahead it's time... interesting is air cooled engine e block and water cooled engine heads, 4wd...good luck with project. (I personally would like that no gaps and panel usage will be a philosophy, but one thing is hope and another is reality...)
