How to Build a Rocker to turn an item slowly one way then the other

I want to build a little motor combination that will allow me to slowly move an item on a pedestal, quarter of a turn one way then after returning to starting point go a quarter turn the opposite direction. I have seen a few ideas on other sites but no instructions how to make them.

I guessing I need acouple of cogs and lever combinations to make it move back and fortyh.

Can someone help.

Do you have a picture of what you're trying to do? I can think of several ways to do it. Also, are you wanting it to stop at 1/4 turn?

Easiest way to say is I want it to work like a fan would, So the total movement would be around half a revolution, backwards then forwards, but at a slow speed.
