TechnicRCRacer Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Correct, it’s the minifigure ring piece. They aren’t hard to find because they can be found in the wedding favor set. There isn’t much use to them, but they can come in handy in tight spots. Quote
amorti Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 My wife's hulkbuster set has one as a washer on the arm's punching mechanism. Seems a bit cheesy to use such a piece as a half connector but TLG can do it so must be legal. Quote
Thierry-GearsManiac Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 Very good recollection for me ! I got this toy around the beginning of the 80's and, after playing with it, I took it apart and discovered this unusual mechanism too. Happy to see Akiyuki rebuilding it. I used to try to rebuild unusual mechanisms too, but I never thought about dealing with this one, although it may be feasible with LEGO parts available at that time (but bulkier). I like the trick (involving the ring) used for smooth friction allowing the arm to pivot with the driving shaft, without consuming an excess of motor power. Quote
agrof Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 (edited) Very ingenious, and compact! I love it! Thanks for bringing this in, I admire Akiyuki, but somehow I always forget to check his channel... Edited March 31, 2020 by agrof Quote
