We have moved the topics from the Embassy forum to this General Discussion forum.

I have scanned them briefly for non-public information, but I don't think I found topics to be hidden. If you have posted in the Embassy before and you think there's a topic with non-public information, let me know.

Wait, why? What's happened to warrant the dismantling of the Embassy subforum? :look:

There was very little activity and the active topics were basically general conversations.

What would have been a reason to keep it?
(maybe we have overlooked something)

It is true that there sadly was very little traffic there, and I do hope many of its core topics gather much more attention now that they're here instead; but, the Embassy was kinda the closest thing EB members had to a hotline to TLG. I feel like there still should be a separate place for "petition" topics that TLG representatives can directly go to. I mean, maybe some of @CopMike's official "suggestion" topics could be pinned to the top of this subforum (if is better that they reside here), just so they won't be buried?

Since TLG created the LAN (LEGO Ambassador Network), they never visited the Embassy again. They are now supporting over 200 Fan Media, so Eurobricks is just one of them. The LAN uses the same forum software as we do and TLG focusses on topics there.

However....I can provide you with a new hotline   Since I am Eurobrick's Embassador, I can create topics on the LAN to do requests and ask questions.

Isn't LAN's forum closed to Ambassadors though, or is it viewable to everyone when signed-in to their LEGO Account? :shrug_confused:

The LAN is exclusive for Ambassadors of Fan Media. So there are over 200 Ambassadors active on the LAN.

So, if you have any thoughts, ideas, requests, you can discuss them here and possibly include me in the conversation. If it's interesting enough, I can post a topic on the LAN.

Sadly, the times that TLG reps were on Eurobricks periodically are a thing of the past. Hence, the closure of the Embassy subforum.

Of course, I can still post a link to a topic here on EB if it's interesting enough for the LAN.

I do appreciate the offer, and I'll keep it mind when I have something grander that I'd like to bring forth to Ambassadors; but that's the thing, much of suggestions I've made to the Embassy's core topics would just be too trivial to forward to a second middleman (no disrespect intended), as they've usually been proposals for new parts, ideas for new playthemes, and most of all, suggestions for further Collectable Minifigure archetypes.

I do wish I knew about the absence of TLG Reps here on EB much earlier, but as long as there's someone connected listening, it's at least some piece of mind. :classic:

@Jim

With this decision I suggest once again that LEGO IDEAS should have its own forum for the general discussion thread and all the individual approved projects discussions, polls, reviews, support threads, contests, etc...

Some LEGO IDEAS are licensed, but some are random ideas created by fans, so I don't think they can't be considered strictly in-house sets even if they don't have a license, because someone other than TLG is profiting out of them. So they are in some sort of gray area between the licensed forum and the regular ones.

Creating a LEGO IDEAS forum would bring together all the IDEAS projects which are currently scattered over all the site, and also would relieve a little bit the crowded Licensed and Special LEGO themes forums

Right now there are around 50 threads (I think) that would go to that forum, so I think there is more than enough

Just my suggestion :classic:

We have contemplated this before, so definitely consider it noted.

Will you be able to make an index of those topics?

Well, that's exactly what the situation is and why we closed the Embassy. Our ideas are so trivial that TLG most likely will ignore them.

Anyway, please feel free to tag me in interesting topics. I will try to be more present in the General Discussion section.

Hmmm, that's rather sad to hear, as something at least like new part suggestions would seem to me to be valuable, worthwhile fan input.

Then again, would Lego rather want to listen and take note of such input through an official platform of their own, such as that Lead User Lab they launched in August? What happened to that by the way? :shrug_confused:

There are also at least these two "index" topics...

But you know what, maybe it'd be better if "index" topics that are particular to specific genres and themes be kept in their respective subforums, as they're meant to draw attention to project submissions that'd be of interest to those who frequent those subforums out of interest in those genres/themes. On the other hand, there is one other topic that I don't see within your index that's more generally pertinent to LEGO Ideas...

Quite paradoxical, considering Tlc flaunted interest towards afols.

Here's an update to tell that we are considering a separate LEGO Ideas forum. More information will follow.

Well, just browse through the "what should be/what do you think" and "what shouldn't be" threads. Or go to the Technic forum and read about Technic flagship sets: Its all crap. The Technic threads on "How to improve this and that" go endless. That is cool; on the other hand: What does TLG learn here? Hire them all? Make it better? See, making things better is so much easier than coming up with something in the first place.

Then we go to the "What do you ..." threads - just to realize that people are literally accusing each other to write-up "nonsense".

These threads are inherently paradoxical, to say the least. If I were a TLG rep at duty to distill a "so - what do we do" type conclusion, I'd sum-up that to higher-authorities: "Way too many people who truly believe they know what is going on. And thus two options: Call it quits, or we give them some more input on the machinery"

The latter won't happen - not in the real world. Particularly when that rep monitors the #posts of the #members - see below.

In conclusion: Yeah; would have been nice TLG if would listen to what AFOLs are saying. The thing is: The A in AFOLs - and thus the hope for an adult-type discussion. A discussion usually comes to a conclusion. Here on EB it never ever comes to hat point, when discussing the above mentioned things. So: There should be waaaayyy more polls. Because that - at least - gives some >very remote< sort of conclusion. Provided a statistically meaningful, low-skewed number of people participate. When somebody starts a thread about: What do you think? There should be a poll upfront. And one after ... xyz replies. I believe that would at least show some - most probably low impact - trends. Thing is though: I believe I can run down the EB members actively participating in such discussions. That number is around ... at max. 30. Out of X million AFOL customers and Z million L customers.

In class, I sometimes (but rarely; happened twice in a 30 years teaching period) lose control of the crowd. You know what works? I just walk away. 250 sooo cool students in the class room. But you know what? I am composing the exams:iamded_lol:.

So yes, it may look paradoxical - but when taking a closer look: It seems to be almost logical.

Say @Jim, should the former Embassy topic What Minifigs are we Missing be instead moved to the Special LEGO Themes subforum? Historically, mods have always cited CMF wish-listers to this topic rather starting another one; and after all, Collectable Minifigure discussion topics belong in that subforum. :shrug_confused:

I'm fine with that. Want me to move it?

I think that'd be best; and while it could be left here on this subforum and broadened to welcome suggestions for figures outside of the Collectable Minifigures, we already have individual wishlist topics for every other theme besides the Collectable Minifigure theme, so it might as well stay particular to future CMF suggestions. For that matter, could it perhaps be retitled to be more clearly particular to such, maybe renamed something like LEGO Collectable Minifigures - Ideas and Future Suggestions?

Hee hee - me too.

But as I said: It is some sort of very last resort.

And: It was meant to cartoon the present EB discussion(s): Students = selected EB power members; teacher = TLG. Exam = sets TLG sells - as they see fit :iamded_lol:.
