Ngoc Nguyen Posted January 30, 2020 Author Posted January 30, 2020 (edited) The XL LAs are indeed put at a V shape Edited January 30, 2020 by Ngoc Nguyen Quote
suffocation Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Couldn't give two bowel movements about the looks - once the price drops by 30%, this model's gonna be a great parts pack. Quote
Jundis Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Overall I kinda like it. The fenders seem to have a thin black stripe print. They really used bevel gears for the LAs, whicht seems a little bit odd, but maybe was the only solution... Quote

Ngoc Nguyen Posted January 30, 2020 Author Posted January 30, 2020 The cabin and the hand rails are way too disproportionate. In the real hauler they are fairly small compared to the whole tractor unit. Quote
Maaboo the Witch Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Plus the body on the set is slung way too low. The real thing is quite a way off the ground. CLAAS tyres would have looked better and given the body more lift. Quote
Rudivdk Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I'm a bit surprised that this final model is approved with all those disproportions compared to the reallife. Seems Volvo cares more about technical side than exact looks, which IMHO is a good thing next to UCS line. Quote
1gor Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 (edited) @Ngoc Nguyen and @Maaboo35 Gentleman, just one another point of view; i work on pone my project for some time because I'm not satisfied with it, but to solve my problem I need liftarm 1 x 8 so I have to make compromises. The same is with Volvo; Volvo engineers make vehicles that are optimal for customers need and with LEGO limitations it is very difficult to make make correct proportions with minimal parts count... Ngoc Nguyen Posted January 30, 2020 Author Posted January 30, 2020 I think the designer wants to incorporate the Defender mudguards, so the cabin and the hand rails must be scaled accordingly. The hazard light is also disproportionate. If it's true to scale then it should be this instead Quote

They could at least get the windscreen pillars going in the right direction! Quote
Bartybum Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 (edited) I agree that the cabin's oversized. Compared to the real model, both the cabin and tipper are a few studs too tall. I do wonder how this wasn't noticed, and if it was, why it wasn't fixed. THAT BEING SAID, I'd say the designer did a top job with the panel work on the front. The yellow curved paneling fills its spot extremely well, and I'm thoroughly impressed at how clean and finished the model looks Edited January 30, 2020 by Bartybum Quote
Ngoc Nguyen Posted January 30, 2020 Author Posted January 30, 2020 Well, technically, the box name DOES NOT say it is the A60H. So the real model maybe a smaller hauler. Quote

From time to time I have learned to be a bit reserved about criticism, because one thing is to make our MOCs and another thing is when you design something for market and have compromise between acceptable price and parts expanses. I do not want to sound political, but no one forces you to buy this set and keep it like it is; you can always improve it as you made with 42097 set (If I'm correct) Quote

And I use stickers. Doesn't mean I have to like them. Quote
rm8 Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I think they prepare for toyfair long before start. So this can be model verison of 2 months before today, despite designers have final model. Quote

That doesn't deal with the fact that we pretty much never see any changes made But honestly, aside from the weird proportions, it's a very nice looking set. I just hope the suspension turns out nice Quote

If the model is scaled around the wheels, then the cabin would be smaller, which would consume less part, which should lead to less part expenses? Edited January 30, 2020 by Ngoc Nguyen Quote

Might make the model look smaller, possibly making it look less worth its price. I doubt it's anything that sinister though, I think the designer just got it wrong. I'm curious as to how it steers. Can anyone confirm whether we're looking at LA steering or something as boring as 42030-A's solution? Edited January 30, 2020 by Bartybum Quote
Ngoc Nguyen Posted January 30, 2020 Author Posted January 30, 2020 This model is more representative of A25G, which seems to be the smallest in the Volvo hauler line. But even in the smallest hauler the cabin wouldnt be that big. Quote
