Governor Mister Phes Posted July 8, 2005 Governor Posted July 8, 2005 Do we have official sales figures? Ooooo lookie! An animated Grimlock avatar! How robotically reptillian!
SuvieD Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 *off topic* Grimlock rulz!!! Dinobots unite!! Welcome to the boards Sauron! Hey Apo, can we get a robot smilie or two? *on topic* Colorful, weapon loaded, and scifi themed make this theme perfect for 6-10 year olds. The dino sets will be the best selling LEGO sets this year I predict. SW might beat them out but I am not sure. These are priced right and look very flashy. :oo
prateek Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 I've actually decided i really like these sets. The vehicles are amazing *witht he exception of the tank, which is still good), and the dinosaurs are growing on me. I will never be able to get any, however, as they won't be released in Europe. It seems a bit unfair considering the US get the Vikings as well. Actually, you get vikings, then dinos, but in north america, it is the other way around
The Middleman Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 Ah, but prateek, everyone gets Vikings on Shop At Home. Europe doesn't get Dinos at all.
WesternOutlaw Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 It's sad that the big guns and urban monstrosities appeal to the American children and probably the reason why US and not Europe.
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 10, 2005 Governor Posted July 10, 2005 Yes, one could imagine firing cannons and battle axes are far more appealing elsewhere!
prateek Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 Sorry, but I have to disagree with almost everone. I think this is a very good line. Much much better than I could have ever dreamed given the promo pics I saw. Just goes to show you how evil promo pics are. The two new lines: Vikings and Dino's were miles and miles apart when I saw the early promo pics. Vikings ruled and Dino's sucked, big time. But now that I've seen the final pics, these lines are much closer than I would have ever imagined possible. The dino line is vastly improved while the Viking line, while still great, does not excite me nearly as mush as it did in the promo pics. God, I wish they had left the longboat the was it was in the early pics - that was a PERFECT set!Anyway, I think the dino line is quite good. I like the dino's and the hummer and 'copter are excellent. I will probably have to get a few of these sets, something I never thought I'd say. Yay!!! The only person so far that i know this likes this theme!!! fu all the dont like this theme!!! *devil* :^^D *devil* *devil* Anyway, Im getting the hummer, it is the best set I've seen in months

Governor Mister Phes Posted July 11, 2005 Governor Posted July 11, 2005 Regardless of what he meant I just can't abide by these dinosaurs! Had they been made of actual LEGO pieces like the Viking monsters or the 2001 dinosaur sets that would be somewhat reasonable. Because when I buy LEGO I don't want to buy a complete detailed figure along with the set because that defeats the purpose. I could just buy a normal LEGO set and buy another band dinosaur to put with it...
Mr. Lego-builder Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 Anyone who wants to view pictures of the #7474 and #7475 sets, visit Brickshelf. To me, they look way too out of minifigure scale...
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 15, 2005 Governor Posted July 15, 2005 I remember that thinking on the 25th of April after I first saw some of the sets... "The 'Fire Hammer' looks way out of scale with its mini-figures. It looks more suited to Jackstone figures." Check out the first Dino Thread for my initial reaction to the sets...
LegoBMW Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 I like the heli, anf the stv. I use the atvs for the rental shack on the beach in my town. I will buy the heli for my "AREA-51" base. :-D Other than those two models i do not like the line. I dislike the dino thingys.
christopher110 Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 I really like the helicopter (7477) and the fire hammer (7475). I'm not really interested in other vehicles. Sorry TLC, but the dinos are just ugly.
Capt_Jim Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Definitely buying some more of these. I got all except for the tank, and I'll get that one later. (Minor War of the Worlds spoilers below) But on the hummer, I'm wondering if I could use it to recreate the scene in WOTW where the humvees come down the hill burning. Do you guys think This one is good, or should I make my own?
Beagle Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Kind of a shame TLC didn't create the dinos from bricks, like in the Designer sets. Those still look pretty good, and still feel like Lego (versus these specialized ones, which just look like mediocre action figures). Plus, with brick-built dinos these sets would be great as parts sets!

I didn't buy the Designer-dinosaur, so, I was hoping that TLC would make the dino in bricks but apparently no. Sigh . . . . :'(
sam89 Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 wuh e takin boot moo dis line boss . . . what? That sentence made no sense, plus this is a 5 month old thread. I think I'll lock this.
