Dr.Cogg Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 (edited) I think these sets, the creator pirate ship and the Monkey Kid sets are the best looking sets leaked so far, especially after seeing Jurassic World, DC and Marvel. Edited April 26, 2020 by Dr.Cogg Quote
bricksnator Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 I'm a bit letdown by the Legacy sets. These are a chance for LEGO to go back and fill in some gaps. Instead they're all straight up rehashes. Granted, nice rehashes. But 100% rehashes. I wish the budget would allow for a new build or figure here and there. And I wish LEGO would start examining the AFOL potential with Ninjago. From a marketing perspective, many of the kids who grew up with Ninjago are now young adults. And they might fancy a figure that a kid today would deem "boring". Like Cyrus Borg in a wheelchair. zoth33 Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 The sets look great can't wait to build these and mod them. I really like this wave so far. Quote

It feels odd to me that LEGO is so insistent to stick to stuff that was released as a set in the past, while there are so many other opportunities for sets and vehicles that weren’t done before. And not only that, but they also seem insistent on not giving any new or desirable characters that we missed out on during that time. I understand the need to make the majority of the figures marketable, popular characters, but in a set like Cole’s Earth Driller, for example, with space for a good number of figures, why not make one of them Dr. Julien? Why not include Cyrus Borg in any of the Legacy Rebooted sets? By the time Legacy hits Tournament of Elements (they’ve already started a bit with Lloyd’s buggy), I wouldn’t hold out any hope for new Elemental Masters we haven’t gotten before, just redesigned Anacondrai Cultists. It’s just bizarre to me how there’s so much potential here that seems limited by insisting on only releasing what’s come before. Quote

There are some great sets but they should've taken this opportunity to fill in some gaps (like the Arcturus rocket for example) Quote
Takanuinuva Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 Could just do a minifigure pack of Ninjago characters. Cyrus Borg, Dr. Juilen. Gale Gossip and the Police Chief? Quote
GarmaFan Posted April 26, 2020 Author Posted April 26, 2020 Would be neat if there are original Legacy sets for the tenth anniversary. Quote
lego_guyon02 Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 All these missing characters pretty much sums up why people want another Ninjago CMF that actually represents the show for once Quote

Stuff designed solely for the show, like the Arcturus rocket... often just looks worse. It didn't go through the same design process as the sets and as such doesn't really share much commonality with the defining ideas or motifs of the rest of that year's sets, nor is it designed with things like play scenarios and functionality in mind. Much as I would've liked to get, say, a big Borg Tower set (considering that year's sets skimped heavily on settings), it would have been a lot harder to turn a design like that that was only ever really designed as a background scene or prop with little in the way of a logical and playable interior layout than it is to take set designs that already had things like physical playability baked into them from the concept stages, and improve them with modern parts and techniques. While that's true we're still talking about Legacy so lego can make changes where they want, just look at the new Kai Figher for example. Btw, am I the only one who thinks it's a downgrade? Quote
lego_guyon02 Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 Skull dragon and Zane's mino creature leaked Quote
TeriXeri Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 Now , those again really look amazing. A Skeleton Dragon totally fits here, and even the wing style fits with it being "undead" as seen in franchises like Warcraft. The Rhino looks great as well, overall love the parts and proportions used on it, interesting layered pieces for the armor as well + 2 more goblins. Quote
Robert8 Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 Ok I'm going ahead and say the artwork is neat but kind of confusing In some cases is hard to tell what comes in the set and what is just part of the artwork, especially for kids But maybe is just me because I'm dumb like that Quote

I need it! Definitely, 100% buying the Journey, Dungeon, and both dragons. The Mino Beast might be a pass though. I like it, way more than the Fire/Stone Mech, but it’s weird that Zane and Cole both come in this and the Dungeon, right? Also, weirdly, this means Lloyd only comes in one set. That’s unusual. Actually, I think Cole’s the only one who appears in more than two non-Spinner sets this wave (not counting the Legacies). Which is a wonderful change from the four Jays, three Lloyds and Kais, two Coles and one Nya we got in Prime Empire. I also spy not one, but two builds to add to the board game in the Skeleton Dragon, which is wonderful! This game is gonna be awesome. Weird that they say there’s a ‘game experience inside’ with the Mino Beast but not the FireStone Mech. I do see a side build that could add to the board game but not much of one . . unless the Beast itself is somehow part of the board game. Which would be great and massively increase my interest in that set. I can see myself getting everything in this season except the Mech and spinners. Wonderful wave and I hope they do more like this and less like Prime Empire (too many vehicles, uneven fig distribution with two many repeats). Quote
Takanuinuva Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 (edited) Skull dragon looks neat. Shame the wings are cloth instead of bare bones. But I'll be getting it regardless. Would love to see more pics of it. And glad it has Nya in it for my collection. Looking at the box. This wave might finally be a proper Cole wave. Edited April 27, 2020 by Takanuinuva Quote

lego_guyon02 Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 They look good but the back of Zane's creature is way too small in comparison to the front (at least from this image). The skeleton dragon is one of the best dragon's we've gotten so far from what I can see Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 (edited) Ho boy, they certainly did beef up the Kai Fighter! Maybe a little too much? I don’t know. Once I see more pictures of it in hand I think Ill be able to make a better judgement. I am adoring this new wave. Perfect balance of location and vehicle/creature sets. What I’m loving more is the balancing out of ninja figures, much better than the Prime Empire wave. We have Cole and Nya in three sets and Jay, Zane, Lloyd and Kai appear twice each (not counting the Spinjitzu Blast sets). Very excited for these to come out. Also, am I right in saying these new ninja suits are called ”Hero” suits? Just from what I can make out from the top of the box. Edited April 27, 2020 by Tobias_Jay Quote
zoth33 Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 Dragon looks awesome. Definitely a day one buy for me. The mino creature is pretty good too. My son also is very excited for this wave especially the dragon. Quote
ToaDraco Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 WOW the skeleton dragon looks incredible! Wu's dragon is fantastic too, an excellent $20 set! Quote
Darth Shadowthrone Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 (edited) Okay I love love LOVE that dragon! It's great that it's not a wyvern as well and has four legs, it looks much more like a classical European dragon this way. It just looks amazingly built, I love the scale textured pattern which runs along its spine. I wasn't so impressed with Wu's dragon set but this one looks much less blocky to me - it almost seems to reuse techniques from the T-Rex in the Jurassic Park D2C? Edit: do we know how much the dragon set will be? I've tried looking back through this forum but couldn't find it Edited April 27, 2020 by Darth Shadowthrone Quote
