Hi there!  I have a small parts request:

Could you add the standard minifigure hand & arm with hand as single pieces, just with a clip connection for the hand?

I see them used a lot as parts by themselves, for example in bionicle mocs: you can use either one as fingers or finger tips for better looking big hands, or as spines, e.g. on insect legs. For example, here's the "Roach Plague Mech" by Thomas Jenkins on Flickr, which uses both parts heavily:

Roach Plague Mech: Phi

You can see how the aforementioned minifig parts contribute a lot of details to this build, in the mandibles, hands, ribs and spines.

As you know, it isn't currently possible to get the hands by themselves in LDD (just the completed torso pieces), and changing that would open up all of these possibilities for digital moc builders like myself! It might even be easy to extract the models just from the existing minifigure torso, but I haven't tried it.

Whether you add them or not, thank you for your work! Your added parts are an absolute blessing for anyone using LDD.

Got a new computer and am updating LDD pallets and it's been a while since the last time I did this, so I have to ask where do I put the "Additional, Optional Palettes" folder?

Hello all,

I hope this is the place for a sort of noobish question. I don't modify parts or anything , just regular user trying to get more parts working.

I have updated LDD a couple of times but I just downloaded the 20240504 update and I'm a bit stumped on the folder structure. Per instructions, I'm supposed  to just extract into the "Lego Digital Designer" folder (which is where the db folder is found), but I see that this package contains a Lego Digital Designer folder on its own, alongside several .lxf files, plus a folder called "Additional, optional palettes". So I'm not sure where I should copy/paste each of the elements here. Any help will be appreciated.

Expand

To both: The correct way to add these files is select everything within the “Additional, Optional Palettes” folder but not the folder itself, then copy and paste to the following location: “C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\Palettes”. Once complete they can be accessed in LDD Mindstorms via the “Filter bricks by boxes” button at the bottom of the Brick Palette (third option on the right).

P.S., do also check out the latest perfect method to install LDD as detailed in my earlier post linked below, which should solve further issues as everything is copied and pasted directly onto their correct final locations. Basically, “LDD Version 4.3.11” is the correct Windows version to install but it includes the now permanent Flash Player Glitch. “LDD Version 4.3.12” was released to remove the Flash Player Glitch, but it has multiple issues such as the outdated Brick version. This new method combines the installers for both “LDD Version 4.3.11” and “LDD Version 4.3.12” to achieve a perfect installation. After performing this clean install of LDD once, for future LDD updates just copy and paste the latest files provided within each update. Hope this helps too.

Alright, I know I've been asking for a lot lately, but I promise this is the last one. I noticed part 13249 (Hips Mechanical) doesn't accept waist accessories. Or it does, but only if you don't attach a torso. Which I'm guessing means it only has a single waist connection instead of two or whatever number of connections the normal minifig legs have. That, at least, sounds relatively easy to fix. I hope.

Hello guys, I am trying to update my LDD database according to manual (I have 64 bit Windows) but I keep failing-either every part is gone, new parts are only present or nothing happened at all. Can please somebody make video how to do it? My LDD version is 4.3.11, Windows 11 Home. Thanks.

Welcome, there are no video tutorials out there so far that I know of, but you can try the new perfect method to install LDD on Windows as detailed in my earlier post linked below, which essentially combines the two installers for both “LDD Version 4.3.11” and “LDD Version 4.3.12” to achieve a perfect installation. Remember that new parts will only show up in LDD Extended and feel free to ask further questions regarding the text instructions, hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for advice but I dont have problem with installing LDD itself. Either Flash player glitch is not happening. But I have trouble to add new bricks. I every time use LDD Extended so it is not unknown territory for me but I cant get to work that new parts. Either they dont show up, only they show up, or any parts are visible at all. But once again thanks

Ooh, I see several pieces in there that I've been wanting for a while. Including a few that I didn't even know existed but wished did.

Now I just have to remember what I wanted them for.

Aw yeah, the skull head that accepts hair and the demon helmet.

Hopefully I can get the POV Ray converter working again this time around so I can actually share some of the projects I'm finally gonna be able to finish.

Hi all,

It has been a while since I worked with the custom parts and I just downloaded and extracted the complete update.

All in all it seems to work just fine, however, opening the lxf files that have all parts of a certain update, most of them keep deleting a few parts that are not found and some that are not placed correct.

What could be wrong about that?

Further more, some new parts are not correct in the pallette and do not load.

For example the part plate 3x3 (partno. 11212).

The xml file is present in C:\Users\Jaco vd Molen\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\db\Primitives

I see a 11212.xml file that I assume is the definition of the 3x3 plate.

However, in LDD Extended the part can be found in the plates palette, but shows as a vague 2x2 brick with an exclaimation mark and cannot be used.

What could that be?

Thanks for reading and answer.

Looks like those parts are missing files, usually .g files within the “LOD0” folder at C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\db\Primitives\LOD0. To fix all issues I recommend the following steps.

1. This is optional but you may also want to perform a clean install of LDD to restore all LDD Programme files to default, use the guide I posted earlier which is linked below (when I reinstalled LDD on my Windows Laptop some outdated files added in later updates were removed and certain Bricks were restored back to their original versions).

2. Once complete please install the “Complete Update” from Dropbox as linked in the guide above, the key thing to do is to always copy and paste directly into the relevant folders with the option “Replace All” selected whenever promoted, when in doubt please check out the steps in the first post of the partner LDD Updates Topic linked below.

3. In case the latest LDD Update from May 4, 2024 is not included in the “Complete Update” Package please install this separately which is linked below.

I have personally used the above steps to reinstall LDD and once complete LDD should be up-to-date with everything released until the May 4, 2024 Update, give these a try and feel free to ask further questions, hope this helps.
