The Middleman Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Ok, every good forum I've been to has had something like this. Just share your real name (no last names, of course - don't want Bob the Door-to-Door Spammer to come knocking!) and what your username MEANS. I'll start us off. My real name is Oliver (bet nobody expected that!), and it means 'the bringer of the olive branch', which basically means 'peacemaker'. On this old forum I used to go to, my username was Blood Judgment. Someone called me 'Bloody J' one day, and it just sort of stuck. RESPOND OR DIE Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 I want to live Jay !!!!!!! :D I have responded in my intro thread, but since no one remebers (or actually read it) here it goes (I'll make it longer for those who remember my intro thread, this will be bonus :D ): My real name is Gaston. Its a typical Northern French name, really popular in the 18th, 19th century. Nowadays nobody uses it anymore. I am the fifth Gaston in the familly, which is creepy when you go to the cematarry... Also there is a famous cartoon character called Gaston Lagaffe (Gaston the Blunder) who is lazy and makes all sort of stupid things !! This caused a couple of fights as a kid in school!!! Why xwingyoda???? Yoda is my favorite SW character!!! Also there is a little something I won't disclose before the event (a surprise for the event goers ;) ). The Xwing is my favorite ship in the SW Universe (with the Tie Interceptor). So adding both, you get xwingyoda!!!! (genious isn't it ???) Quote
Akkhraziel Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 My name is July. Yes, like the 7th month. My nick is a combination of two sources. One, the naming conventions in a wonderful triology of novels, in which a double 'k' was employed becasue the planet had once been a penal colony under that designation, and as suhc it became tradition that individuals born on that world would have 'kk' in their name. The other is that according to aprocraphyl sources, Akhraziel is the name of one of the Angles that guards the gates of heaven. Mesh the two, in honor and homage to both, and you get Akkhraziel. vcvc Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 my real name is larry dubreuil. ;) the ''L'' in dubreuil is silent Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Ok, ok, ok...where to start? Hmm... My real name is Hubert (pronounced with a short "u" sound; not a very common name). My parents named me Hubert, because it means, for some reason, "bright minded" in some strange language. *wacko* I'm Chinese, but I'm NOT communist! :| :P. I have lived in the good ol' USA since I was born. Now for my username: Mr. Lego Bildur. (Take a wild guess...) I just thought of the phrase "lego builder," changed the spelling of "builder" to "bildur" and added "mr." in front of all that. Original isn't it? :P And that's about it... :) Quote
SuvieD Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 Daniel, God's judge or judge of God (meaning God uses me to judge) or it is also means discerning. I go by Dan. Only the people who know me from childhood call me Danny anymore, my sister and my aunt mostly. SuvieD is actually odd. If any of you have seen the movie Alien Resurection where she rips out the alien tongue and hands it to the guy saying it is a souvenir. Well a friend of mine decided that because I have a long tongue my nickname should be souvenir. We then decided to shorten it and add the 'D' from my name to the end. Thus SuvieD. This also tell you how to say it. sue.vee.D Quote
Centaur Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 My real name is Alex. The only reason I can think of for Centaur being my name is that once, a few years ago in school, we did a play of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. I was assigned to play the Centaur, and since then, I've loved them. Another reason is that I love greek mythology, and one of my favorite characters, Chiron, was a centaur. Quote
jonfett Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 My first name is Jonathan, but most of my friends, infact most people call me just Jon or Jonny. Only my grandma and a few other people call me by my full name. As for jonfett, well :| need I explain?! Boba Fett kicks megablocks! Jon. Quote
Norro Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 Daniel, God's judge or judge of God (meaning God uses me to judge) or it is also means discerning. Do you take the meaning from the character of Daniel in the Old Testament book bearing his name or another source...? Always interested... God Bless, Nathan Quote
Norro Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 Oh, I missed my turn :-D , My name is Nathan (not shortened from Nathaniel, I'm very proud of that...) and my screenname here is Norro, it started with watching 'The mask of Zorro' with my sisters and their general knowledge of my heroic character ;) ... God Bless, Nathan EDIT: For any of those seeking a friendly face..err...name on lugnet; my full name is Nathan T[]odd Quote
Supreme Oompa Loompa Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Name is David, nick is Dyv And my user name means I like Oompa Loompas ~.^ | Strategic Grill Locations | Quote
Hobbes Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 My name's Martin. In German they say it means "The Warrior", in English they say it means "From Mars". Well... whatever... My favorite animal is the tiger and my favorite cartoon is "Calvin and Hobbes". So I just mixed both. Unfortunately C&H is very popular and thus either character name usually already taken on big message boards. My alternate nick then is "misterhobbes" which I use on brickshelf, for example. I put the "mister" in front of it because I like the title of the movie "They call me Mister Tibbs!" (the way he emphasizes on "mister" in the movie; the movie itself is not my favorite, although it's ok). Again a mix ;) Quote
ApophisV Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Ahh... How have I missed this thread???? *wacko* Okay, here we go: My real name is Daniel meaning anything I have no idea about (related to bible stories and such things)... I don't really have a nickname in my real life, some people use to call me "Major" (some pronounced it German others English) because this is my last name... My internet nickname's history: It consists of two parts: Apophis who was the first villain of Stargate SG-1 and was kinda cool several years back... It's always the same, you call yourself like the bad guy or hero of the series / movie / book of your choice and then you've to realise that every second guy on a related forum uses the same nickname as you... But since this doesn't matter here I still use this name. ;) The second "part", the "V" stands for Voo which is short for "Voodoo". Its the last leftover of a short time were I was fascinated by this religion several years back... That's it. Sometimes I use other names, some are variants of ApophisV like Apophis or Apophys or just Apo... At ICQ and MSN I call myself Inzilad Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 24, 2005 Governor Posted July 24, 2005 My name is Humpadinkk... Notice the two K's? Everyone forgets the second K. I can't understand why... Quote
sam89 Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 My real name is Sam, as you have probably guessed from my username. The 89 stands for the year I was born in. It's not a very original name, but it was all I could think of at the time. Quote

DoubleT Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Just looked it up and its in the Gospel of John: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Thats John's 3:16, An very importent quote :) Quote
MattZitron Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 To be boring my real name is Matt Zitron, as you all saw in the paper I posted. Yes, my surname is lemon in German. No I'm not German, my ancestory lies in Poland. There's a story behind why its my surname. But I won't bore you unless you ask. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Well, my name is Dillon, (surprise!) and since I'm into the Middle Ages and such, I just added the "Sir" to my name, so now that makes me a knight. :D Creative, isn't it. Quote
MattZitron Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Why is it Zitron?I really wonder... Ok. Jewish surnames are usually "SoandSo son of SoandSo" which can be tricky to keep a track off. Back in the Austro Hungarian empire they were having trouble keeping a track of the jews to get their taxes. So they made them take surnames. Now back in the day peoples house sometimes had pictures instead of numbers; and we reckon that my family had a Lemon on their door. In that area, at that time Prussian (now German) was the main language, hense Zitron. Quote
