Problem with Lego Ideas

Hi everyone

I have been working on a design recently which I want to add as my first entry as a Lego Ideas project. I am having problems setting up my account though.

I logged in to Lego Ideas using my standard Lego ID which I set up years ago and doesn't have the same user name that I use on here or Flickr. I want them to match though so that people can easily find my project once I've added it to Ideas.

Under account preferences on Lego Ideas there is an option to change the username but when I try to do this it just throws up an error message and wont let me do it.

Has anyone else had problems with this and if so how did you solve it? I've emailed the Lego Ideas customer service but they haven't got back to me and I received an auto generated message basically saying that they are a small team and it might take them a long time to reply to emails. So I'm not holding my breath that I'll ever hear back from them.

Hmm... I just tried to change my username to see what would happen and got an error message as well. It must be a glitch on that part of the site. How long ago did you email them? They have usually responded to all my emails with 48 hours. I even had a conversation over a month long to fix a login issue.

Not really sure what to tell you, but if you don't hear back from them in a few days email them again. Do something like this in the subject line: !URGENT! Username glitch!

Caps and exclamation points usually get peoples attention when they are trying to sift through hundreds of emails a day.

I think I may have inadvertently caused the mess myself. When I set up my account this morning I wanted to make sure that my username would be the same as the one I use here on EB and other Lego sites. My Lego ID was set up ages ago under a different name so I stupidly decided to create a complete new Lego ID with the name Bricked1980 this morning so that I could use that one for Lego Ideas.

I then logged in to Lego Ideas and found that there is actually the option to change the username from within account preferences. This was when I made my mistake...

I went back to Lego.com and deleted my new Bricked1980 Lego ID. This removes the account from across all Lego sites but seemingly not Lego Ideas. My account is still visible on there but I can't log in and access it as my Lego ID is no longer available. My intention was to delete this so that I could simply use my old account and amend the name to Bricked1980. I think the reason it throws up the error code when I try to do this is because my other account is still listed on the site and it wont allow 2 accounts to have the same username.

I'm sure this must be the case because I've now found it will allow me to change the name to anything except Bricked1980.

I've emailed them twice now. Once this morning and then about an hour ago. Hopefully they'll get back to me within the next couple of days and be able to sort it out for me.

@Bricked1980: Gotcha. I've done stuff like that before! The Lego Ideas team should be able to point you in the right direction on what is the best course of action. Hope you get it worked out!

Just to say they did get back to me and have managed to sort the problem out.

LEGO Ideas suspended and deleted my account for more than 3 months and I don't know what to do, I have tried to contact their support but I have not received a response, has something similar happened to someone?
