N-4K0 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Man, I saw the cab and it was instantly recognizable. Quote
Sjoemie himself Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 Thank you! I think the shape is ok, but the cab might be a little to high. Maybe I'll change this. First I will try to work on the nose. If anybody has an idea for an implement: please let me know. Quote
Sjoemie himself Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 @I_Igor I can not see the picture you posted. Is this just me? Quote
1gor Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Perhaps this video could help... I have posted image using mobile phone, but mobile web sites sometimes are not compatible with PC platform Quote
Sjoemie himself Posted January 23, 2019 Author Posted January 23, 2019 Ah yes, I do know the video of this tractor and tanker. I believe this is a fellow Dutch-man Could make for an interesting implement since it gives me the opportunity to hide an extra motor in the tank which can control the implement on the rear of the tank! I will definately put this on my list. Also I managed to view the picture you posted earlier of an Ertl model with a folding disc harrow if i'm correct? Also a nice suggestion. Yesterday I came across a Kinze corn planter, also a very nice machine with some neat features. I'll take a look which one appeals to me most and for which implement I have the neccesary pieces. 1gor Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 You are right about implements, perhaps you an use tumbler tires on tanker. Just one question; perhaps I have somewhere misread some comment, but is it possible to replace plates with studs on top of cab with tiles (studless plates)? Yesterday I had few hours of time and finally made compact enough chassis, so stairs etc are not in the way for tires when steering under compression (compressed suspension) and made solution with smallest amount of gears used As progress goes (influenced by snowing outside here) it would need some month ore more for me to finish (and at least 5 more projects are in the pipeline) Looking forward to see how front part will be made. Sjoemie himself Posted January 23, 2019 Author Posted January 23, 2019 Curious to see what you have come up with! Me too! 6 hours ago, I_Igor said: Looking forward to see how front part will be made. Quote
1gor Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 I hope to attach axles today, but I wonder how you will make front part because the first tractor that I wanted to make was the same as you (but did not succeed) but (to many buts ) I have ended up making steifer and later a quadtrac... Quote
Sjoemie himself Posted January 24, 2019 Author Posted January 24, 2019 And then the BB did not fit in front of the motor.. Complete redesign of front is needed. Quote
1gor Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 I suppose you have train BB; it is 8 studs long... Quote
Sjoemie himself Posted January 25, 2019 Author Posted January 25, 2019 (edited) Yes indeed. Well I don't actually own a train BB yet but I would like to use one. In the picture below you can see i've made a dummy BB to get everything to fit. Also there are three motors and two rc receivers in the tractor now which control steering, driving and the rear 3 point hitch. Fitting another motor would damage the appearance of the tractor more than I would like, so I will leave it like it is. Drive motor and dummy BB mounted. Also mounted some 'rear wheel weights' aka dual wheel hubs. Edited January 25, 2019 by Sjoemie himself Additional info Quote
1gor Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 (edited) @Sjoemie himself train battery box is indeed very very usefull. If you do not have it, you can found one here https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=88000-1#T=S&O={"iconly":0} I had complications with my Fastrac due to battery box placement and then I got suggestion in forum to use smaller one, so I decided to use it from my Unimog and get another one (actually my wife suggested me that) Wheel weights are always nice touch (specially when you need to hide something) and sprocket wheels are best choice. Sjoemie himself Posted January 26, 2019 Author Posted January 26, 2019 (edited) Thank you for the link. I added a train BB to my wanted list. When i've gathered some more 'wanted' parts I will place an order. Maybe I'll add some tumbler wheels and some more Claas wheels. The wheels weights come in handy because I can also use them to attach dual wheels later (maybe, not sure yet). Edited January 26, 2019 by Sjoemie himself Quote
1gor Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Just for info, tumbler tires are very expensive, perhaps you can use 81.6 X 38 balloon tires instead or for tumbler tires it is better to buy 42050 set; you'll get lots of usable parts. That is smart decision to make model from available parts and then place an order for all missing parts Quote
Sjoemie himself Posted January 27, 2019 Author Posted January 27, 2019 Thanks for the tip. Maybe I will get 42050, i've always liked that set anyway. Only disadvantage is that it only has two of the tumbler tires. Quote

IMHO the only disadvantage is that it is not dark azure; because I like that color very much and next truck that I plan will have dark azure Cab (but first I have to solve wheel problem on truck...) 1gor Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 @Sjoemie himself as you can see on attached image, you can easily start with panels, since your tractor has mostly straight lines and as you can see here bonnet width is more or less the same both at end (in front of cab) and at front more images can be seen here Quote
jorgeopesi Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Nice tractor I had never seen one of this... Quote
Sjoemie himself Posted January 28, 2019 Author Posted January 28, 2019 You are correct. However I cheated with the cab. It should taper inwards a little from the middle down to the floor of the cab. Also the nose has a slight downward curve/slope on it but I think I'll have to compromise on that as well. That being said, I'm not jealous of you because your JCB has much more curves to it. Quote

You do not need to be jealous, your moc has a charm of its own, so there are some real machines that look much better as model and other do not look so good as model... You can calculate how long is front part behind slope, you can perhaps use po panel 5 X 11? Quote
Sjoemie himself Posted January 30, 2019 Author Posted January 30, 2019 New update. Not as exciting as a new Liebherr excavator but i'm pretty pleased anyhow Pendular axle A key feature of the real tractor is that the nose can slide forward to reveal the engine. I would like to recreate this feature in my model. Closed. Opened. Quote
