It is fast indeed...looks like you would have playful Christmas. I wonder how will it end up because all what you have put on chassis so far looks bulky

this was only to test the speed. Actually it looks different

Btw, a sbrick seems necessary, because the turning circle is extremely small

I see this could look  exactly like original, only stuffed

It looks like you like different types of trucks, important is that it is about trucks

yes it is a stud wider on every side if I'm not mistaken...known problem except that I have this problem because of to wide tires made by LEGO

This my mod of the Lego set 42068 makeover series. I would like to share a few mods/upgrades to this excellent model.  The first video is my Boom HOG mod to use Lego set 8293 fully!!!  The M motor is for the boom functions and it is mounted above the upgrade flat 6 cylinder. I felt the flat 4 cylinder is to unrealistic for a firetruck. The only extra part is a XL motor mounted to the back of chassis and under the flat 6 engine. The XL motor is perfect for this model for the drive train. I also added stickers and cosmetic parts  I will provide pictures for you to examine. No instructions or lxf since its a easy upgrade. I might do a lxf in the future..

Wow that's amazing, I have this model as well and you gave an idea to mod it. How many parts do I need to do it, and what is the rough price of those parts?

Posted (edited)

You need the Lego set 8293 and a XL motor.   A fancy steering wheel for the Boom HOG and if you want to use transparent engine blocks, i even  seen custom pistons that were chrome!!  8 chrome pistons were 25 dollars!!, maybe next time!!  .I  found my parts on ebay but i have just recently found about bricklink to order parts. I had credit on Lego.com and did the pick a brick.. 40 to fifty dollars and you can always use the parts on other sets and how many parts .. i need to figure it out.. maybe just a dozen pieces.. The switch needs to be mounted at a angle and I think that can be done in many ways.. I wonder if any one can answer this question ? on the pf switch, when you slide a axle down the side of the switch why does it feel tight when you turn it on one end but when you slide it through the opposite side and turn it, is not that tight at all??!!

Wait for my next Lego 42068 mod.  the next mod is awesome!!!

only one piece is needed to mount the M motor to fake engine and don't forget to push the axles up from the fake engine

The next mod for the Lego set 42068 makeover series is my Semi-tractor (tm) of the future !!! This version of the 42068 is at the simplest form. The set have enough parts to make a tractor and trailer. This version is a 4x4 off road Rc model. This is may favorite mod since its very fun to use due to it size. Only one XL motor is for the drive train and  M motor for steering. This basic chassis can be expanded to a Bobtail or a Tanker or even a fire truck!!

In the USA fire departments like to use gold foil  and diamond plating.. I found some stickers at a hobby store and I was thinking to cut up a two liter bottle for a wind shield !!

I just update my Lego 42068 Semi-Tractor (tm) with parts from older sets. I think it came out good.. Also, I wanted to share some pictures of the Semi-Tractor underside.  I removed the battery lid and placed it to create a under skip plates with diamond plating sticker , but I don't like how it looks... I would also note that the battery pack was getting warm after hours and a couple pack of batteries. Do you think removing the battery lid can actually cool your battery if you can direct air into the compartment. Note though that any water is not good for the Lego battery pack and wouldn't recommend unless you can provide a water proofing methods..  please ask any questions.!!!

Oh my, please excuse my stupid question, just wondering what set those dbg pieces you are using for differentials came from? I have not been building with Lego for long so there are many elements I am unfamiliar with.

Anyway I would say that's a good start, could use some refinement and strengthening though. Seems a bit unfinished and weak, by the looks of things.

Might even start a wip thread, since it is more a C model, than actual set mod.

The element  is a Lego Technic DARK GREY BRACKET Axle and Pin Connector Block holder Part 61904 and this piece is usually found with Lego Linear Actuator. I just started myself a few months ago to be honest after a 15 year absent and got a few sets recently.. its actually does help me with my stress level and yes I agree its more like a model -c and the brackets/diff are not included in the set.. to make a pure model-c it needs to be 2 wheel drive since there is no way to make another differential with its limited parts. This is actually a my mod of the Lego 42068 Semi-Tractor (tm) due to the parts (outside) are special ordered or from another Lego set.. Model-c can be called a Semi-Tractor and the original designer of this set did a good job on this set as it looks like a tractor deep down to its frame.   Its actually very strong and decently put together tightly and the pics were taken after a long run to see for weakness and your advice is very helpful and I did a drive around the block test to see where it can fail..  the back gears with the motor wants to slide off and the real wheels wants to slide off also.. I wouldn't mind if you started a wip as long you throw a sirslayer as a contributor out there!!!  I would like to see this Lego set really take off but for a unknown its not that popular on this site.. I get more comments for this set on youtube.. :)

if you seen my video's it does have great potential!! thank you Johnny1360  and oh yes my model does look a little rough and the stickers I have applied are being torn off, but at least their protecting the Lego pieces!!

Update: The hub caps!! i just realized that the hubcaps actually prevents the wheel from sliding off and now i need to figure out how to reinforce the drive train without using many beams??  An hour run driving over rocks and boulders took some damage and rip out some of my reinforcements. I guess I need more skid plates!!!    i will do a test run with no universal joints on the drive shaft and see what it tells me...

Lego Technic 42068 Semi-Tractor (aka Iguana) back to basic. I think i went mad!!!  In its naked form, strip it to its basic frame. My semi-tractor has convinced me its almost done... well its just a frame with a lego xl motor and a m motor. the "iguana" drive train is advance lego technic design from me!!! .I would like to hear any comments!!  This is my final prototype with the frame and drive and now to work on the body ..  I believe i got most of the kinks out..  its very light weight and durable and not to small or big. in size. I like to call it fun size. . Not only I reinforced the chassis a little bit, the drive train is smooth and fast. No hiccup, no parts are falling off (well not yet) I really think Ill evolve my creation with tall tires !!!

Lego Technic 42068 makeover and today i would like to introduce the Lego 42068 Tanker chassis (tm). This state of the art Tanker chassis replaces the default chassis with plenty of space to use.. A water, gas or hazmat tanker, .  the ideas goes endless . Chassis hosts to my Iguana Technology and off road capabilities. Mud is not included

Lego 42068 makeover series. I just started to design some cab designs on the Lego 42068 set. Im just using pieces from the set and see what I can come up with.. They are just simple designs and they are just concept work for the moment.
