Remove paint and marker from lego pieces

Hello! I got some pieces that someone has painted or used a permanent marker over some pieces and I would like to have them as much as possible back in original shape. Someone have any suggestions?

Marker can be removed using dry-erase markers. Draw dry-erase over the marker and then wipe it away. Or use a little alcohol based cleaning fluid. 

As for paint, it depends what kind of paint was used. Some will need actual paint removers that may damage any LEGO print. Others can be tackled with good old soap and water.

Another option for markers is non-deodorant body spray and then a wet cloth, you could use cleaning alcohol to the same effect but I get paranoid about losing the print. <- that sort of thing.

Alcohol. Thats what I use.

Acetone, apart from on printed pieces and only leave on for 5 secs or so. Never damaged one of my pieces
