Did LEGO start reproducting the specialised pieces contained in these sets for the Legends and Re-Releases, or were they simply using up surplus stock that never originally got used. I wonder this because of the re-release of 6278 Enchanted Island. Islanders weren't the most popular sub-theme, so why would LEGO go ahead and start producing parts for this set again? It would seem to make more sense if they re-released it because there was still an unboundance of unsold sets that they needed to get rid of. There are obviously examples from other themes, but this is obviously the one I'm most familiar with. So other examples would be good to mention. Does anybody know the story behind the Legends and Re-Releases? Quote
