Thirdwigg Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 (edited) It's been a busy month here in thirdwiggville. This time a little Helicopter MOC based on the Sikorsky S62 helicopter with additional turbines, and a Fenestron tail. Full gallery on Flickr. Features: main rotor connected tail rotor landing gear winch sliding doors folding main rotor Much more at thirdwigg.com. Edited May 31, 2017 by Thirdwigg Quote
Leonardo da Bricki Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Very nice build! I like the folding rotors and the fact that they drive the functions is cool. Quote
1gor Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 My favorite coastguard helicopter with folding rotors to be used on floating platforms... Very nice. I also like rear propeller housing Could it be made to fit 42052 size? Quote
IstakaCiti Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Great MOC, Folding rotor really looks neat, Also liked the way everything (landing gear, winch) is driven by main rotor. I can make out that rear propeller also rotates but not clear in the video. Quote
steph77 Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Looks good! It has some cartoon design i find... Just one thing, as you probably know it i am a big fan of anything that fly. Normaly the axle passing through the center of the main rotor must also pass by the center of gravity of the Aircraft. Your cockpit normaly has to move to the front of the Aircraft. I'd to say probably 3 or 5 studs. Quote
Thirdwigg Posted June 1, 2017 Author Posted June 1, 2017 Thanks everyone. The folding rotors was an afterthought. I'm happy I added them. 10 hours ago, I_Igor said: Could it be made to fit 42052 size? It's kind of the same scale. This one is meant to be smaller, so they might work well together. 9 hours ago, IstakaCiti said: I can make out that rear propeller also rotates but not clear in the video. Yeah, that was an oversight I realized after I made the video. It does in fact work, but sorry I didn't show it. 4 hours ago, steph77 said: Looks good! It has some cartoon design i find... I scaled the model on the S62 so the rotor placement is correct, but the cartoonish design is a result of the curved 3x11 panels, and the sliding doors. This moved the cabin further aft, resulting in the center of mass also moving aft. I like the way the design turned out, but it might be a pig to fly. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Again another great MOC I really envy your skills. Quote
steph77 Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Quote so now you should make a helicopter already done... I like your design skill! Question: are them wheels of the recent race jet? Quote

Thirdwigg Posted October 25, 2019 Author Posted October 25, 2019 Hmm, right after a bump comment, but I have finally completed instructions for this helicopter. If you want to build it, or if they are helpful for ideas, you may find the gallery here. Quote
