LittleJohn Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 My entry for round 1 of The Middle Earth LEGO Olympics over on MOCpages. The category was to create a build based on one of J.R.R Tolkien’s poems or songs. Here is the one I chose: Farewell we call to hearth and hall!Though wind may blow and rain may fall,We must away ere break of dayFar over wood and mountain tall. To Rivendell, where Elves yet dwellIn glades beneath the misty fell,Through moor and waste we ride in haste,And whither then we cannot tell. With foes ahead, behind us dread,Beneath the sky shall be our bed, Until at last our toil be passed,Our journey done, our errand sped. We must away! We must away! We ride before the break of day! I tried to portray the 3 main themes of the song: hearth and home, travel through the wild, and Rivendell. More pictures on Brickbuilt. Thanks for looking, C&C welcome Quote
Aanchir Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Gorgeous! The indoor scene on the left looks extremely warm and cozy, the nature scene in the middle is brimming with life, and the Rivendell scene on the right is so ornate and spacious! Even the uneven terrain has a restless energy to it. A lot of Castle builds (including official ones) often feel kind of stark and sterile to me, so it's really great to see a build that packs such a wide range of feelings and sensations into one continuous display! MAB Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 I also like the Rivendell bit. Is the dome just placed gently on top of those levers? The flooring inside is also very nice too. Quote
Gunman Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Amazing landscaping and a SO great shrine there LJ Quote

Thanks Aanchir! Capturing the feeling of each scene was one of my biggest goals with this build, so I'm glad you think it paid off On 5/11/2017 at 5:21 AM, MAB said: I also like the Rivendell bit.
