Zerobricks Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Hi guys I bought several of the 8886 PF extension cables and noticed my motors would not work on them. They all use the newer version of the connector with rounded cable gland. The problem is, that the metal tabs seem to have less bracing, so they do not contact the motor as well as the old version. Here's a video of the issue. Anyone else experiencing the same problem? I will also send Lego costumer support a message regarding this issue. Quote
Void_S Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Nice observation, Zero (Zblj)! I faced the same situation recently, but didn't validate that it's a version-related issue, not just a simply bad contact. I'll double-check my extension cables once more. Quote
Attika Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 I've noticed it too, but I'm too much of a DIY person so just grabbed a pointy knife and pushed it betwwen the wall and the metal tab slightly bending the tabs inward and the problem was solved. They work nicely since for me. Quote
Limga Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 I have the same problem. It is pretty annoying as the high quality is what I am awaiting from purchasing expensive LEGO cables:( Quote

Thats the first thing I check if a the plug on PF componant stops working - I use the sharp pointed edge of a craft knife or an old small watch makers screwdriver to ease the contacts out on both the male and female parts of the connection. Usually works every time. Quote

I didn't have any problem around the new PF connections. Edited May 3, 2017 by Attika Quote
Bricktrain Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 I have had similar problems with PF connections and also have resorted to slighly bending the contacts to fix the problem. Quote
