itoero Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Can I use a servo motor for other functions then steering? Quote
kolbjha Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Examples: Controlling a pneumatic valve, toggles, sequential paddle shift gearbox, and many more. Quote
msk6003 Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Servo motor can rotate only 180 digree. Can use unlimeted! Quote
itoero Posted April 8, 2017 Author Posted April 8, 2017 can I use it to up and down lift a trunk like the one in 42029? Quote

itoero Posted April 9, 2017 Author Posted April 9, 2017 Can I put the servo directly on the axle that leads to the actuator which lifts the trunk? No extra gear required? Quote
tomek9210 Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 It won't work. Servo turns only 45 degrees in one way. So you would need to put a lot of gears before the actuator to extend it to its full length but at the same time a lot of gears mean a lot of slack and resistance. Quote

Actually it turns 90 degrees each way, but that doesn't change your conclusion of course. Quote
itoero Posted April 9, 2017 Author Posted April 9, 2017 Ok and M motor don't work with v2? Why not? Quote
tomek9210 Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 It does work with either V1 or V2 receiver. If it does not work, your M motor or receiver is broken. Quote
itoero Posted April 9, 2017 Author Posted April 9, 2017 ah ok, I thought v2 and M didn't work toogether. Quote

As said by Philo in this topic: Quote Noise suppressing capacitor in the M-motor is far too large, causing high current surges that fools V2 motor driver into believing that it's output is shorted. Generally V2 works fine with only one M-motor, but not with two M-motors on the same output. As for your main question, you can use the servo for whatever you want, it's just a motor that doesn't turn all the way round. Quote
