Here is my entry to Challenge V, category A, supporting Mardier.
It’s great to be back building for Brethren of the Brick Seas!

Disclaimer: No official LEGO string was harmed during the making of this MOC.

In the current turmoil the Viceroy’s daughter Esmeralda would be a very good match for any power wishing to increase their influence over Terraversa. Cornelio is a young nobleman from Eslandola and has been sent to Terraversa to win the hand of Esmeralda.

Proposal in King’s Port

His tireless courting of the young lady has borne fruit and when he now proposes to her she happily accepts. Things are looking good for both Cornelio and Eslandola!

Suitor

So far it’s the happiest day of her life

Everyone is not happy with this arrangement however, agents of the Marderian King Alphonse are doing their best to stop it. An assassin has found a way to strike and make it look like an accident…

Assassin from the Marderian King Alphonse’s Death Guard

While people are gathering around the unfortunate suitor, the assassin easily got away.

The end of a love story…

The building itself was inspired by 17th century houses in Amsterdam, particularly the high and narrow shape and a beam to raise goods up into the attic.

Bonus shot:
100 % crop of the ring from the closeup shot of the suitor above, to test the ability of my new macro lens, fairly good effective resolution?
And I think the builder himself is slightly visible behind the camera too :classic:

Fantastic build Gideon, lovely facade with all those dk red profile bricks!   Some clever piece uses too if you look closely... and I love the vine out front!  And that last picture... showoff...   Your photography is splendid as always!

Fantastic entry Gideon and it is great to have you back! A lot to like here and like Kai I am quite envious of all those dark red profile bricks! The concept of combining the love story and assassination is great (although not so good for the suitor!). Have you used chests for that brilliant door? Very clever!

I love this build and entry! Great job combining marriage and assassination into the same story! And Ayrlego beat me to commenting on that door. Great piece usage!

Given the architectural style, I'm just sad this couldn't have taken place in Weelond!

Great job on capturing the Amsterdam style of building! The story has a fabulous twist for the challenge and the pictures do an excellent job of capturing the scene. I also love the detail of the curtains behind the windows. Little details like that are great additions and things I will remember to do later.

Apart from the broad sidewalk (which should have been mostly channel :P), it looks very Amsterdam-ish! And I have a feeling you have just contributed to a hike in the prize of dark red masonry bricks -it looks absolutely wonderful.

Favorite details for me is the gable, the details above the windows, and that crane up top. The door and creeping vine are great too.

As to the story, I am ever so sorry to see Eslandola's plans thwarted. How very... Unfortunate. Now I hope you will forgive me. I have to go write a check! :D

How!  This is an impressive build.  A detailed build and great photography.  The red brick with white trim really grabs the eye, and the crate built door has a nice texture.  Finally, the minifig face with the bead of sweat chosen for the assassin is perfect!  Well done.

PS: The fan of kids cartoons in me wishes it was a piano that was dropped on the poor suitor, but not everything can be a comedy.

Excellent build an a very nice selection of minifig heads. This surely is a nicelying planned assassination!

Beautiful build, Gideon, excellent facade, and those vines, the door, and the windows are all great as well!  The colors tie in together very nicely, and the hangings inside the windows and assassin up top with the crate are some of my favorite details (is that bad? )  Great to see you building again in BoBS!

Oh, and sorry to be nitpicky, but unless I'm wrong I think that you're supposed to put the side your building for (Mardier, I assume?) in a line up at the top :pir-grin:

Those details on the facade are so fabolously beautifull! One of those builds I instantly show to Margot :sweet:

Too bad it is for the wrong side :sceptic:

At least Maxin didn't name the ship "Scallywag Joe"!

I was reading the comments while putting the baby back to sleep. Had to work really hard to stifle my laughter. :pir-laugh: I'm in agreement with BD that I'm glad you didn't name it Scallywag Joe! :pir_tong2:

Wasn't that obvious?
Added it now.

Really great building design1 Love the natural look of the flowering vine and the cobblestone out front. I especially appreciated all the minifig choices from outfits to facial expressions. Love the strong color contrast throughout also, really pulls you in.

Fantastic build and presentation. The colors are lovely and the overall design is beautiful. The various pics and minifig poses are just about perfect. And of course that close-up of the ring is impressive. Excellent work as usual. :classic:
