You're an insanely fast builder. It is very black though... I know the original is as well, but maybe you can add some colour to it? A horizontal LBG or silver stripe might already do wonders

I like the purple lights next to the hood, and (I hate to admit it but) I do like the wheel wells. I normally abhor from liftarms over flexaxles, but here it realy works (and I can't think of a better way to get that shape.

I do like the Porsche wheels better. Too bad the rims are only available in black.

I do agree I'd be great with more color, but the amount of variety black allows any combination of pieces for your creation. (the black curved 7x3 are amazing, but only in 2 colors*huh*)

SO I thought I'd share the progress from last night. I was working to try and have the doors slope from low to high at the rear and fix the back end. Still there is work to do but I am getting closer...

I really like the chasis! Not so much the bodywork though. Maybe I'm missing the point of the car being so low profile but it somewhat looks wird on such SUV. I'd suggest rising that front spoiler (or geting rid of it in the best case) and tapering the hood a little (it looks strange now being flat). from what have been discussed, I agree on Porsche wheels and I aslo agree with Jerome that some color accent would break the monotoneous black, which look good on real car but not so much on lego model :)

I agree on all of your points. The feature I was excited to build (low profile) is proving to be a pain due to the weight and the looks. The front suspension height is too tall, making for a flat hood with doesn't look true to the real car. And the color combination it too black. I definitely did not know what I was getting into with a car of this scale. It's also very difficult to create the shape of this SUV. I probably just need to slow down a bit and think of a few clever solutions to fix this car...

At this point, I kind of feel like scrapping this whole project to be honest. I was so excited to build this cool looking car (IMO) but now I almost regret it. I'm not super happy with the progress. I probably just need to slow down a bit and think about some sort of solution...

That is the beauty of Lego - allows for endless trials and errors... and the urge to dismantle and start all over again invariably grows over time as new ideas emerge... but, I kinda like the way you designed your wheel arches though - very flexible, yet solid, design that will suit ANY WHEEL SIZE  ...

Yes, I guess it wouldn't be too bad at all if I tore it right down and rebuilt it. I prob. Should have listened to the comments at the frame stage. Back to the drawing board :sceptic:

Good luck! Myself being rather relaxed technic fan and seldomly interested in cars, you already scored in catching my attention, which is good :D I really think the chasis is worth building on and its not that the whole bodywork was bad - it is just the certain spots :) And yeah, you took a challenging shape to recreate. I'm sure you can pull it off though!

Thanks Kris.

I posted my final build but I feel like I left the last progress information out of this topic so let me go thru what it took to get to the final product.

I took 3 key point to this topic:

1. SUV too black

2. SUV too low

3. SUV had too flat of a roof.

From there I tried to figure out how I could incorporate white into the build without changing the whole body. I wish the white went 1 or 2 studs lower on the car to replicate the real vehicle but had to make due with that I had.

I did some photo overlays of the top for reference. Everything looks ok:

From the side I wish I could have put the door handles 2 studs higher to replicate the real SUV...

I decided to build this and am quite happy with the build. It is not a supercar but well worth building!! thanks for the photo instructions!!

Is there a parts list for the build?

Thanks @AFOLegofan66! Glad you enjoyed it.

Sadly no, I was not interested in doing the parts list for this one. 6.3 pounds of lego would have taken far too long to sort. Sorry :sceptic:

I can relate to your reluctance to sort and count that many pieces.  No apology required :classic:

@AFOLegofan66 ... did you put a list together as part of your build process?  If so, would you be willing to share it?

I'll be busy for a few days...

Once it is finished, I should have a complete parts list.

Man, you guys are hardcore. @LvdH  this is a seriously huge build. Good luck recreating this one and thanks!!!! :pir-blush:

That reminds me, I haven't finished the file yet... 1014 pieces, it's getting pretty big

Oh my... still plugging away at this thing?

You're a trooper!
