Hobbes Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 Hi all, my name's Martin, I'm in my early 30's and I live in Austria's capital. I've been roaming the internet for LEGO related stuff and just stumbled over this site (after finding lots of US-based platforms) and decided to register :) The day before yesterday I've set up a brickshelf gallery. There ain't many pictures yet but I do have one of my collection after unpacking most of my boxes (I just moved): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=129844 I think you can guess my favorite theme ;) Well, enough yada-yada (for now). Greetings from Vienna, Martin/Hobbes Quote
Norro Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 Hi and welcome! I see that like me you prefer castle legos ;) .... or at least are collecting sets that are resources for said theme. Glad to see your quest for online lego activity brought you here :-D . God Bless, Nathan Quote
xwingyoda Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 Hobbes, Welcome to our friendly boards ;) Glad you've decided to join. Have a wonderful time with us!!!!!! I'm sure you will!!! Good, Good I'm not the only one in my very early 30's!!!!!!! Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 Hello! :) Welcome! :) Hope you'll enjoy it here! :) I know you will. :) You'll have fun. I promise...as long as you like LEGO and like to engage in (argumentive) conversation...go figure! |-/ :| P.S. As a newbie, don't be afraid to talk to the older members. (That way, you'll find it more enjoyable.) ;) Quote
Hobbes Posted May 22, 2005 Author Posted May 22, 2005 Good morning and thanks for the welcome(s)! I see that like me you prefer castle legos ;) .... or at least are collecting sets that are resources for said theme. I wouldn't say I prefer castle but I do have a few sets (although they're not on the pictures). My favorite theme are trains, I have a few Pirates sets also. What I like about those two non-train themes is that I used to mix 'em into my early train "layouts" (if you can call them that) - and it somehow fit! Completely different timeline but it didn't matter. So my pirates were holding up trains and the knights came to the rescue or vice versa ;) Good, Good I'm not the only one in my very early 30's!!!!!!! No, you're definitely not alone, my back tells me everyday (from crawling around on the floor sorting bricks)... P.S. As a newbie, don't be afraid to talk to the older members. (That way, you'll find it more enjoyable.) ;) but I'm so shy... :$ Welcome here ! Thanks! Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted May 22, 2005 Governor Posted May 22, 2005 That would be Calvin... Calvin and Hobbes... Is Vienna where the sausages come from? Quote
Hobbes Posted May 22, 2005 Author Posted May 22, 2005 Yes, Calvin and Hobbes is right. And yes, them sausages would be from here. Funny you ask since I had a couple for lunch today ;) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 22, 2005 Governor Posted May 22, 2005 But more importantly, what are your thoughts on Pirate LEGO? I didn't notice any in your Brickshelf pictures, I thought maybe it was still packed somewhere... Quote
jonfett Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 Hey Martin! Hope you enjoy it here at Eurobricks and also enjoy unpacking all your Lego! ;) I also hope to see you at the Event (saw your other thread) if you can make it :) Jon. Quote

I hope you have a nice stay :) I already posted more in my first two days here than on other message boards where I'm registered (not all LEGO related, though). Yes, I already feel comfortable here :-D Quote

Thanks! That unpacking will be "interesting" - as in lotsa work ;) I hope I'll make the event, I just have to find a reasonable way of transportation which ain't that easy from the looks of it... *wacko* Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 23, 2005 Governor Posted May 23, 2005 I already noticed that you kinda "like" that line. I can't compete but I do have two or three sets: 6276 and 6277. The ship that comes with the latter is missing a sail, though. But I still have the box. 6276 is complete except for the box. With both sets I miss a minifig here or there but I'm not that adamant about that. As for the possible third set I think I bought that little "outpost" (Sabre Island IIRC) when the Pirates line came out but since I didn't buy much lego at that time I can't really remember :/ I used to store some lego (my castle sets) at my brother's but he can't remember it either. So, officially I own two sets. But I'm looking for the 6286 at the moment. I really got to like it. The 6285 is an option but I'd prefer if I could get my hands on the bigger one ;) No need to compete with me! I'm insane and at times I go overboard. If you visit the Which Pirate Lego sets do you have thread, you'll see a complete list of my Pirate sets which is not far off a major update. If you like, you can list your Pirate sets and there's a link to the BrickSet Pirate section with the pictures, names and numbers of all the Pirate sets so you don't have to go to the trouble of remembering. Brickster must be pleased there's another train enthusiast here. Quote
Hobbes Posted May 23, 2005 Author Posted May 23, 2005 mister_phes, I wouldn't call you insane, I'd go for determined ;) I already read your thread and it reminded me of a local ebay seller who I bought a few town sets from. He had every single Pirates set that ever existed. He was just missing one Islanders mini-fig (or whatever they were called). That collection was quite impressive - but I'm sure you know what a complete Pirates line looks like ;) As for trains: I registered as the 359th member - and there's only one more train enthusiast here? :o ;) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 23, 2005 Governor Posted May 23, 2005 Brickster is the most proactive train enthuiast in the forums. There may be others, however they don't seem to post as much. Oh well... Maybe one day... Every single Pirate set which existed? That's my aim. And I'm not far off that goal. Half a dosen promotional sets and one standard set and then I have them all... Plus I've got multiples of many sets including the same big ones. I've just recently realised I have 13 ships... Not all built though. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 31, 2005 Governor Posted May 31, 2005 Watch those Vaders... They're EVIL!!! *devil* Notice the plural in Vader? That's right! There's more than one in this particular universe. But to compensate there is more than one Yoda. No other Jedi Knight's though. Quote
Hobbes Posted May 31, 2005 Author Posted May 31, 2005 Watch those Vaders... They're EVIL!!! *devil* I noticed that yesterday when I watched Episode III. He's really mean ;) Notice the plural in Vader? That's right! There's more than one in this particular universe. But to compensate there is more than one Yoda. No other Jedi Knight's though. that is scary... :o Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 31, 2005 Governor Posted May 31, 2005 The secret is to exist on a different plane of existence. That way they can't get at ya. Quote
Hobbes Posted May 31, 2005 Author Posted May 31, 2005 Does a parallel universe do the trick, too? I usually have my problems with leg room on planes... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 31, 2005 Governor Posted May 31, 2005 A parallel universe huh? Well it depends whether they have the ability to cross over into that parallel universe. In this universe things could be completely different. Their counterparts might insignificant little germs and you might be the supreme ruler. When one is on a different plane of existence they can exist simultaneously within many parallel universes... Omnipotency is great! Quote
